Do truckers still use CB radio? Back in the day, I used to like it. Haven't had one in decades.
Are you happy to talk with non-truckers, or would I be a bother?

Old school drivers still do and would be happy to talk with former drivers.
TNSnowman, Suspect Zero, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
Everyday of driving since 83/84 I've ran with a Cb radio. Only exceptions was if I was stuck in a spare truck while mine was in shop
TNSnowman, Numb, High Stepper and 2 others Thank this. -
I feel naked if I don't have one. Granted, there are times I have to turn it down due to all the BS spewed but still want one.
-
I have one, but to be honest I rarely turn it on anymore.

Years before I got my CDL, I used to to "Citizens REACT" on a base station (my dad was deep into radio, and had a ham license) on channel 9. That was a REAL help during the Buffalo "blizzard of 1977", when some people had been left stranded on the roads. I even had a CB license back when they were required!
I always had a CB when I was driving, but from the early 90's onward, I either kept it very low volume, and often turned it off when I got tired of the idiots. Still, always had it on when maneuvering around truckstops, and when driving in desolate rural areas. Kept it on "canal deuce" whenever I was in francophone Quebec. Also, both of my CB's had weather band.
I used to also have a CB in my car, but since I got rid of the old Volvo wagon, I've never bothered putting one in a car. Still have 2 nice CB's in the closet. But it's pointless using one around where I live.Suspect Zero and Oxbow Thank this. -
