I know a cab driver who said he can't move his hands too well after driving for 20 years. I'm sure a clenched palms on the steering wheel took its toll on him after long hours of drive. Do truckers use like a special glove to prevent hand fatigue? What are these called and where do you buy them?

In the past, I have seen city transit bus rivers wear hand and wrist support gloves. There are also plenty of the city transit bus drivers that do not wear them. It all depends upon the individual.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

There are many health issues plaguing our industry that are more worrisome than stiff fingers. So no, no special gloves for most. Just back braces, CPAP machines, and Tylenol.

First of all, has a doctor told this cabbie that driving is a direct cause of his hands being stiff?
In my thinking, there is no cookie-cutter answer to this. People develop arthritis and other joint/muscle problems all the time, at different ages, for different reasons.
I've been driving truck for 24 years now, and my normal hand position is roughly 9 and 3, with what I consider a firm grip. I've had no issues with my hands yet. And personally, I would be uncomfortable driving with gloves on.

I had a friend many years ago who drove a city transit bus for 15 years, back in Hartford CT. Their stress levels are quite high, due to the various types of people that walk onto the buses.

Healthwise, many bus drivers have serious problems with their kidneys, livers, backs, digestive tracts, and their eyes. Also, a lot of bus drivers are overweight.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
