If you're going to grip the steering wheel tightly as part of your everyday driving you're going to start having issues with your hands wrist and fingers.I know i'm guilty of that.I'd stop every so often to give my hands a rest. There's no reason to grab the steering wheel for dear life.I never used gloves but would exercise my hands and that helped.I finally broke the habit.

I remember seeing those as a kid. I was always told they were for leverage on the old rigs without power steering,so you could crank the wheel easier. I think they have 2 names, one is a slang term and the other is the product name. Unfortunately I can't remember either one.

    My driving gloves: driving gloves2.jpg

They also serve as my fueling gloves, my eating gloves, my chain handling gloves, my welding gloves, my torching gloves, my mechanics gloves and my spank the ole lady gloves. Mostly they serve as my resume.

PS. I hit them with a palm sander and 80 grit about once a week. I did that yesterday.

In 1993 when I got my first "regular, full time" driving job, 10 - 12 hrs a day, a lady I was seeing at the time asked if I wanted some driving gloves. I asked; "driving gloves?" For what? I've got a heater in the truck. "Driving Gloves?" Why would anyone need driving gloves? It just didn't make sense to me. I just couldn't imagine why a person would need driving gloves.

Fast forward 24 years. Still driving. Now regional, and I am still thinking; "Driving Gloves? Why would a person need driving gloves?" I realize some of you guys do indeed use them, enjoy them & have found a use for them. But, for me, kinda like shorts on an adult male.... some how I just don't get it. Shorts are for little boys under 10 years old, girls & some ladies.

EZ Money and Oxbow Thank this.
