Antenna lenght matters not the coil so much, 102 inch whip is one of the best, so is Monkey Made antennas, which has a good band spread, and decent antenna lenght, tune easily. most wattage ratings have to do with what the coil will handle, if you use a 102" stainless whip you can pretty much put any power you wish thru it .
Do truckers use the CB anymore?

i think its important to have a backup, you never know when you really need it. specially with the corrupt world we live in. klaus schwab from the world economic forum and his bunch.
you guys didnt take the kill shot i hope? anyway, bad times are coming, and they are created bad times. on purpose that isBadger619 and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -

This is a great thread, though a bit stale, so I hope to see it pick up again. All my vehicles (3) have a CB in them and I have a base station in the house. Here in So Calif I'd say about 2/3 of the 18-wheelers do have a CB antenna but you don't hear a lot of chatter out of them. As said many times here they have them turned down or only flip it on for bad traffic, weather issues, etc.
The CB radio is an important tool and has advantages the Cell Phone cannot overcome. I give warnings ref Highway Patrol activity, road hazards, etc. Even though it seems nobody is listening, it may help someone and it may inspire others to do it more often. It's also fun to rag chew with someone on a late night to help stay alert.
USE THAT RADIO... Keep CB alive!MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
Got 1/2 dozen cb’s boxed up, since the move to TX in 2013. Ranger is the strongest of the batch, can’t exactly recall the model #, 2970? maybe. Retired nowadays, considering putting it in the Motorhome, will need a new antenna. Power to batteries is a no brainer. Hope it doesn’t pick up too much static, the engine is a 1995 Ford 460 gasser TBI.

Yes, put that CB in the motorhome! -

Funny because it's TRUE!! Thanks for the laugh!!

They are used every day, all day, on site, and nearby hauling dumps. You work next to the same guys, and they're checking in and out at the same places. Some of the guys like to chatter, but it's mostly for checking in/out, giving directions, asking questions, or simply exchanging platitudes as you pass by. They are definitely a necessary piece of equipment on the job.
Badger619 Thanks this. -
I actually have used mine in every facet of driving, from OTR updates on road conditions to "ok, where the hell is the shipping office for XYZ logistics services?" to "hey driver behind me, I'm going to push a button on the steering wheel, tell me if you notice anything." "Oh yea driver, your tail lights are blinking" oh ok, that's the taillight blink button on a Volvo. Nice to know. (been driving this truck a year and a half and just had a driver help me with that button last week. ive just been using the 4 way flashers to thank people because i didnt know how to flash tail lights. now i do. yay me.)
Always been handy for me.Last edited: Jun 3, 2024
