Well here's another thread that has gone to pot. It seems like almost all the threads are about him at some point. I think the main hard drive thread had over 400 post the last time I looked.

So…what does anyone do about it? Why is this ****** permitted to just terrorize anyone and everyone on the road?

I know! Understandably, no one wants to risk an assault charge or worse.

But there are those who will stand up and do whatever it takes, no matter the consequences.

So…unless there’s a man out there who is willing to stand strong (or one crazy #####, like my deceased stepmother/truck driver) he will continue to rule over the CB. This is America, after all!

The bullies always win, because no one wants to risk arrest or imprisonment, however noxious, abhorrent, or dangerous these ***holes are.

They win. You lose. As just a mere outsider, I find this both tragic and unconscionable.

For the few that are left on the CB, this is apparently what one must endure.

From being on this site for only a short while, I’ve learned exactly why, when I’m up in the mountains, say in/around Wolf’s Pass and see a trucker smoking and no other trucker informs him…

Yep. That’s because they can’t! Because there is no longer any communication between truckers and all this new technology is always “better”.

Now it’s understandable why I see so many (local and otherwise) lawyers that relentlessly advertise to those hit by 18-Wheelers.

Having lived up in the mountains, I do understand just why things like Runaway Truck Ramps exist, having seen too many times just what happens when a trucker makes a fatal mistake or deliberately exceeds the speed limit.

I took the advice to try to report trucks riding in tandem just a few days ago. Siri is not so smart and “she” was determined to run me into a concrete barrier, or possibly (?) far worse.

I’d say that instructing me to make a U-turn on the interstate was maybe the worse of both mishaps. Because if I ever have an accident, I don’t want to survive, mangled and disabled.

But boy, “she” sure understood when I started cursing her out! “I won’t respond to that”. I love my cruise control, but it’s always good to know when the speed might suddenly change, as it does, in Northeast Texas.

Siri did nothing for me except p!ss me off and endanger my life.

But isn’t it amazing, how “she” was able to correctly respond only to insults and questions regarding “security checks”!? Answer: “I can’t give that information!”

Sure. You are a worthless ****, just as I told you, and you were only able to respond to that!? Trying desperately to call on one trucker who was both oblivious and defiant riding for miles and miles in that left lane?

    Nothing but nonsense from “Siri”.

I’ll be trusting Waze from here on out. Google Maps? Yeah. Thanks for endangering, not just my life, but everyone else’s.

And lastly, how strange is it, that the older truckers seem to be in favor of the communication between trucks that the CB offered and the ones who are still wet behind the ears favor the disappearance of the CB?

Yeah, my late father was most definitely a kindly mentor to younger truckers, but he would have NONE of what is happening today!

So, to all you who clearly grew up with a tablet or phone under your tiny little fingernails, maybe you should respect the advice of those came before you.

Or just keep diddling away on your phones because you know no other way, and can’t even understand why I’m flashing my lights at you, giving the old school signal to “C’mon, Big Trucker, move over!”

    You: “HUH?”

“Uh….I’m totally oblivious to any signals given, therefore will just cause an accident because I grew up with an iPhone in my hands and the television was my babysitter!”

Cannot WAIT to see what happens when the 18-year-olds are out there in droves with their freshly minted CDLs!

Sure, there might be some young good ‘uns, but I’m expecting the trucker/4-wheeler accidents to skyrocket.

Anyone who disagrees? Go ahead, knock yourself out.

Just like you’ll be knocking out multiple cars and other trucks because you have no idea what’s happening to your rig.

    Signing off,

    One pissed off Trucker’s Daughter

I think a lot of CBs are still being sold but the youngsters don't know how to properly use them.

Tip number one: When a driver asks for a radio check, don't simply say "it's workin', driver". Say something like, "I have a good copy on you here at the 22 mile marker". It lets a driver know what kind of range they are getting

I’m a new trucker at 44yrs of age and I just logged my first week without a trainer. I invested in a striker SR–955HPC and a couple other guys who went to trucking school with me purchased a cb.

it is a lot more quiet than I expected it would be. I haven’t heard that mud duck or fine-tune or hard drive character yet, knock on wood.

It seems there’s a little more chatter when you get close to bigger city. I pick up a lot of skip when I’m scanning channels, however.

New technology is all well and good but unless you have the phone number of every took her out on the road, that cell phone in your hand is useless to you on the road when you need to know which lane to move into, etc. That stuff can’t replace CB and I think EVERY trucker should have one. However, companies like Werner won’t allow them. In fact, many trucks I see on the road don’t even have antennas for one.

I’m 35 now but I was 27 when I got into hotshot trucking and purchased my first small basic Uniden CB radio.A week later I was buying a Galaxy 929 in San Antonio and doing all the research I could on SWR,coax, noise cancelling mic’s,skip, how to use all the knobs on the cb,etc. When I hear a radio check I quickly respond and then ask them for their 20 and if they reply I give them mine so that they can gauge their distance. When I start to hear the other person say that they are losing me in 2-3 miles I know that they don’t have their SWR’s set right or their RF gain is set too low because I have confirmed 8 miles with a base station and we could hear each other clearly.Last year when I purchased my International 9900i one of the first things I did was rip out the coax that is connected to the radio and put in new mini 8 coax,a Francis antenna, and a President Walker II cb radio.A few weeks back I upgraded to a Wilson 2000 antenna and last week to a Stryker 447.

Isn't technology grand? The new Cascadias have a CB antenna *in the windshield*, just like the old AM radios in the GM models in the 70s. Hook up the + and -, screw in the coax in the truck, and you're live.

I bet some of those antennas can transmit all the way to the back of the sleeper. And if it's a Hard Drive radio, to the front of the trailer.

Was this around Chicago on 294? There's a guy out there that's done something similar, and he's the one that's been arrested for child abuse.
