I've discovered that rest stops are usually less packed, quieter, cleaner, and more pleasing to the eye than truck stops. You have walking trails, park benches, etc. Just no shower facilities, but I've figured out how to shower in the truck so I can stop anywhere I don't care. The parking lots don't smell like piss, either. Their parking lots are always drive in, drive out style, no backing.

    What do ya'll prefer?

I avoid truck stops at all costs, but then again, I only sleep in my truck 3x a week, so showers are done at home and I have a fridge and microwave for eating. I typically just camp out at the customer location most of the time. I'm on a dedicated route and know which ones I can camp out at.

Truck stops for me when practical. I want a shower first thing and I can't deal with truck traffic whizzing by at 75+ mph only 50-100 feet away, every 15 seconds. But some rest areas are layed out better than others and are more rest-friendly.

Neither. I prefer my Tempurpedic at home so I'll go with that option ;)

I avoid both except when I need a shower. I generally park in secret locations that few others know about.

when i was a road driver, truckstops all the time. i have no need to not be able to shower or have a sit down meal.

but for the past 20 years or so, i am home daily, so i have no more any need for either, not even a quick nap. that's what my customers locations are for!!

    Truck stop

*note - "travel center" is not the same as truck stop.
