You’ve got that completely and entirely backwards. If you don’t plan ahead in this industry you’re doomed to fail. The people who don’t plan ahead are the ones racing against the clock, throwing a fit because ELDs won’t allow them to run 1,000 miles a day anymore, parking on ramps because they arrived at midnight hoping to find a spot at a congested truck stop, etc. Go ahead and call names, shower us with stories of your greatness, and flip off every “steering wheel holder” that you see if it makes you feel better about yourself. In the end though, only the results matter. I sleep well at night knowing that I’m winning the trucking game, so your opinions of me are worth nothing more than a good laugh.
Do you agree with reserved truck stop parking?

I am genuinely confused by you guys that say you can’t plan anything. Everyone has a plan to some extent. There’s literally no other way to do it.
If you’re planning on driving from Long Beach to Ontario in 30 minutes during evening rush hour, then that’s a stupid plan. Everyone knows that’s a 3 hour drive, and they plan accordingly.
If you have a 9:00am appointment at your shipper and you’re parked 30 miles away, you don’t say “Well I’m gonna leave at 8:30 and drive 60mph so that’ll put me there right on time.” What a horrible plan that would be!
A good plan includes realistic timelines, contingency plans, and contingency plans for your contingency plans. No matter what you say or what you want to call it, every mile you drive has been planned ahead of time.brian991219, farmboy73 and tucker Thank this. -
I can still run 600- 700 miles a day and find a non paying spot. I am not bragging, just stating facts as i see it.

Honestly you just sound like a bitter old man who’s upset that the world changed and you can’t keep up. Maybe you’re a good driver (“trucker”) and maybe you’re not. Maybe you operate a successful business and maybe you’re barely making ends meet. There’s no way for any of us to know either way, and honestly I don’t care. I do wish you would open your eyes a bit though and think of the future. You can crush these poor newbies and tell them all that they’re not welcome in your industry all you want if it makes you feel more like a man, but if you do that then who’s gonna run the trucks when you’re gone?Moondawg1964, brian991219, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
Grab the popcorn guys, I don’t see this one ending any time soon. Unfortunately there aren’t any participation trophies or mercy rulings in online debates.
Sirscrapntruckalot and farmboy73 Thank this.
