I will agree with you on that point. The issue is also, along with the population growth of trucks on the highway. The lack of travel Plazas with enough parking area to accommodate the explosion of trucks. Look at all the Pilots, and Loves who's lots accommodate possibly 25-50 trucks. Unlike such stops as Iowa 80, Oak Grove Petro, MO, Bosselmans Grand Island,Ne. Those are travel plazas that we need in this country. Those with 100+ spaces for trucks. Pilot, and Loves have bought up a few of these older truck stops, but the franchised ones only buy up a small plot of land to put in their fast food chain, and small numbers of spaces. With many rest areas being closed down across the country, and the stupidity of government in implementing more so called safety devices in commercial trucks these days. I am waiting to see Mega companies , insurance companies, and the government come out with the rectal camera. Thus, they can tell when a driver is driving with their head up their rear.
Do you agree with reserved truck stop parking?

Dude, we get it. You're Billy Big Rigger
dunchues, driverdriver and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
i think the "space needed issue", is one of zoning laws, and neighbors...we still have this stigma of being on drugs and cohorting with hookers. as it is NOW, many areas, with out trucks tops, already HAVE those problems, and more, so people just don't want a truck stop, in the proverbial backyard.
and some truck stops now, i think require a buffer zone, due to the neighbors, which disallows expansions...
there is still lots of wide open space for a truck stop to be built, but the costs are so much, i think that the truck stop companies want "some sort of guarantee" of revenue, before they not only look at a sight, but buy, build as well.brian991219 Thanks this. -
I was not addressing you. I am no Billy Big Rigger F.Y.I> I am just #### good at my chosen profession, and in business practices. I have the right to voice my opinion on any matter i see fit. Good, Bad or Indifferent of others views. So we can leave this B.S behind and move on, or keep disagreeing about stupid S***.

I understand that fully. So all these drivers whining about being able to find parking, and find reserving a space the wave of the future. Granted there are no guarantees in life, no matter what we do. I am waiting to see Valets in truck stops next. Having a buffer zone is the norm for all business. In some states, if not all even in residential areas the city, or county are required to x amount of frontage.

Having valet parking is so last century. Back when my dad had his truck stop in the 70's we would wash the windows, fuel, vacuum the floor and park the rig while they went next door to the Village Diner and ate. All for the price of diesel and maybe a $1 tip to whoever parked the truck.
It is not the wild west anymore, and those that simply ignore the regulations and run wild have their days numbered. Reserved parking is the way of the future, can't just rewrite time if you don't find a place to park. Perhaps if you hauled general freight you may understand. I hauled cars for most of my 25 years so I never had to stay in truck stops, but understand that trucking is varied and just because I didn't need a truck stop spot doesn't mean the other drivers don't.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
that's right (the buffer zone) as there will be EP and environmental issues in some states as well, to "protect" say a certain species of wild life, nesting or habitating in an area.

You said you weren't on elogs so you really don't need reserved parking,
You can be creative and park a few hours on the on ramp here and there and pencil in a 10 hour break.
.
Go out and try to run legal, you couldn't do it. All those minions you think you're better than can do it. But you will never be able to operate a truck legally, EVER!
You're just a steering wheel holder today, not a truck driver.TankerP, brian991219, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this. -

So wait...drugs, hookers, ignoring regulations, etc is part of the great good old days. No wonder so many have on rose colored glasses.
Sirscrapntruckalot - $1 tacos are the ####s.. go to the wrong place and they will give you the ####s.. - Mexican Fortune cookies....if those actually existed. -
I think they should reserve parking just for Volvos because Volvos are the king of class 8 trucks.
