But you might have to pay sales tax depending on where you live.

I am a licensed carry, I am working on a out of state licensing for Maryland as well. That one requires me to prostrate myself as a victim on paper to get it. Ugh. It'll come along eventually. It's a may issue state, not a shall issue like here in Arkansas nor a free state where you don't need permits.

I would not get on the road with a 18 wheeler going into say Memphis without arms in the holster and everything just so. Im too old and slow to play knifer and have had too much surgery and parts replace to be worth anything for very long anyway. It's easier to point and squeeze than to wrestle with the drugged out thuggies.

The comment was more tongue in cheek, I have seen these firearms threads locked. This is a very passionate subject. In fact, I can almost see the saliva all over the screens from the screaming!

Bad idea to carry your SS car and Birth Certificate with you. Each state has their own conceal carry law. You would need a permit for each.

    Federal laws
    State laws
    Company policy
    Castle Doctrine

Research them for yourself. Most trucking companies are anti-gun, anti-knife, anti-spine, anti-brain. If you are bringing any of these things with you, do your research first before signing on and if you choose to work there, do not let anyone there know that you have any of these things. Don't understand? You will, six months after you been driving.

A SS card should BE IN YOUR WALLET! Right with your CDL, medical card (if you have one) and your fuel card and credit cards. I have even late in my career been in situations where I needed to show mine. In fact my last job change I went right from one job to orientation on the other and never went through my home. A SS card can also be used as part of a legal right to be in the US. While not required for ID purposes with a traffic stop, might make life easier if you are ever arrested. I agree that other stuff you don't need. However, I consider any advice to not carry that SS card to be bad advice.
