I just got my Class A, I already have a decent and secure office job, and will now be the back-up driver. My question is who here enjoys what their doing, and who here is just doing it because it's just what they have always done.
I am currently married with 3 kids, and do to where my job is I'm not home most nights. My thought was if I could get a local job and be home at night, it might be a decent option. I have all endorsements but hazmat, only because I didn't see a need to b et it right now. I have only driven auto trucks, but know how to drive manual.
Do you enjoy your job

I still enjoy driving, but I'm now at a company where I can finally picture myself moving into a supervisory or managerial position.

It's just a job for me.

Ive always liked driving for a living. Like it more now that i mainly do open deck work, unless a van is on vacation
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I enjoy it and don't have much of a life outside of it. Working hard and making good money. Pulling flatbed B-trains in Canada.
TripleSix Thanks this. -
We live on cape cod, and I'm currently working about an 1.25 hrs from home. I have experiance mainly with class B trucks, and some experiance with flat bed tractor trailers.

I enjoy mine. It's good money and I like the area I go to. Can't beat it.
Lepton1, blairandgretchen and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
I'm looking to make a transition. I haven't decided yet. I don't want to do this for the next ten years. I have freedom but getting tired lately with trucking. It could be a phase

I've been working for 11 months as a flat bed driver in Canada, did four months OTR and now work regionally. As I've put it since getting off the highway: "I love driving the truck, but don't want to live out of it (i.e. I want to be near the important people in my life daily/regular basis).
There are some people that thrive on that lifestyle, but I'm glad my company had an option for me to drive locally, or I probably wouldn't still be working for them. I was pretty close to a breakdown. Ever since getting home every night, I've slept soundly and don't dread "going to work" in the morning.
In fact, I'm on day one of a three-day long weekend and I'm already anticipating going into work on Tuesday and what's in store for that day. "Love my job" is putting it lightly.
