Sometimes I have no choice, but during the day, it's got parking. forget it late, and don't park where you're likely to be blocked in. I final a few miles from there, out of hours.

    rachi and bzinger Thank this.

Feel your pain brother, when I still had my truck, parked at the TA. In Boise ID, was walking my dog when I heard this crunch, turned back to see this guy pulling a flatbed, taking off my hood, walked back, and the driver told me he forgot he was pulling a trailer, I’m like WTF! How does a truck driver forget about the trailer

Forgetting about your trailer is much more common than what people think, especially for new drivers. When I was an OTR trainer, I lost count of how many times I had to remind my trainees to keep an eye on their trailer when making a right turn or driving around in a lot. This was especially true on their first couple weeks OTR.

Stevens Transport would say that new drivers (less than 1.5 years) were commonly involved in small accidents like running over objects while making a turn, while experienced drivers would have less accidents, but the accidents they did have were severe like rear-end collisions due to distractions, driving too fast for conditions, etc.

After 32+ years behind the wheel, I’ve never forgot that I was pulling a trailer, this to me is just an unacceptable excuse, if I was in charge of safety, and an employee tells me “I forgot I was pulling a trailer” would definitely be the last time they would pull one for that company
