Its not a violation because you can flag and always have been able to flag things that didn't take more then 5 or 15 mins one of them

Also another thing you don't know. Is when you are driving slow looking for a trailer in the yard not wanting to start your clock. Sometimes it kicks in anyway and it puts you on the drive line. So you are busted. The other day I put my log sheet on here. It showed I only stopped once. But I actually stopped twice.
My first stop was fuel. Fueled at a TA it doesn't have transflo. Its end of pay period. I have to stop again. So I stop at a pilot. I back up in a parking space on the far side of the parking spot. I would of went thru the fuel island, but they were backed up. Went in transfloed came right back out. Didn't pass go didn't collect 200 dollars. Got back in truck and drove and it kept me on the drive line. Please my friend know all the facts jack. -
As long as you don't interrupt your sleeper berth. Thing is there have been drivers on this forum running E-logs that admit to moving and bumping the dock while logged as sleeper berth. That is a violation of the HOS.

What your not understanding is all I am saying is that they do not force drivers into compliance nor do they make a driver any safer. Why do I say safer you ask? Well because just like a guy running paper just because you push the button saying your in the sleeper for a 10hr sleeper berth break doesn't mean that you didn't stay awake the whole time hanging out at a bbq and then jump into the seat and drive your 11 hour drive period. My point is that E-logs cannot force anything therefore they are just for the drivers that like the easy part of just pushing a button instead of using a pen and paper and having to think for a minute.

Exactly. My point is that its in the DRIVERS favor to protect them from companies who want you to push the PEN.
It is the drivers responsibility to get the rest they need to make the trip possible. My wife is a nurse. She knows that she has a 12 hour shift the next day. If she watches movies till 3 am she has no right to call in because she is too sleepy to work. Or for me to hear her complain because she is so tired at work.
If you are in the sleeper birth logged in and you wake up at the 6th hour to go to the bathroom do you log it because you have left the sleeper. Do you log when you get tired of laying or sitting on the hard bed and you need to sit in the driver seat to just chill. Come on man. Its apples and oranges. Yes backing up to a dock is a change of duty status. So it should be logged but of course if it doesn't take you 20 mins to back into the dock and u going back to bed are you going to hurt yourself. Is that guy going to be fatigued and have to spend an extra 8 hours in the sleeper because of something it took 5 mins to do. Come on with must use common sense.
Most people who are on E logs didn't start on E logs. A lot of people left my company when they were forced to use E logs. They also left my company when they dropped the speed limit from 68 to 65. We all have options. I'm not mad at those on paper and I'm not mad at those on E logs. Some people who are on paper have strict companies who make them log legal anyway. So if the company is not going to give you any leeway to be blind to driving 30 mins down the road while my log book says council bluffs Iowa and I'm delivering in Gretna Nebraska. Then I'd rather be on E logs. But IF my company say's they don't mind me logging being in the sleeper in council bluffs while I'm in Gretna Nebraska, and its my butt that has to pay the consequences if caught. Then That's fine.
Just be thankful we have those options for the time being. Really was a pleasure talking to you Volvo. I have a family to feed just like everybody else. I'm not going to let the government starve me with jacked up rules. I'll do my best to see if I can feed my family with the jacked up rules they have and if not. I got to go Hunting somewhere else. Bottomline, my take on EOBR's is, why should i be forced into a buying something i don't need, just like a DPF for CARB. But just like CARB laws, i will overcome and addapt to whatever. I don't want to, but this industrie will never stand together to stop all the money grabs by the true crooks like CARB, and CVSA.

I've had to run on e-logs with my previous companies and I currently do paper logs and I do not miss e-logs at all. In my opinion paper is much easier. A common thing that would happen for example i'm at a shipper checking in at the gate so I go to line 1 they tell me where to drop my trailer and I proceed into the yard and by the time I get to where i'm directed the e-logs recognized my truck moving and automatically logged me onto line 4 and I would have to change it to line 3 and not line 1 because my truck was moving and the system wouldn't accept line 1. That happening often would caused me waste alot of my hours. I hear people say drive 2 MPH and it won't catch you, well in the trucks I had once its moving it automatically sees you as driving so even at driving 1mph it automatically logged me onto line 4 which I have to correct to 3. Alot of my hours were wasted just for simple things like that. Another example I get to a truck stop and after I fuel and pull up I go to line 1. Well once I move from the fuel island to a spot it would log me onto line 3 and wasted another 15 min on my clock. I wasted way too much time having e-logs. As far as it being safer if a person's going to cheat e-logs does not prevent that. I know quite a few drivers on e-logs who unplug their qualcomms. One particular person I know just ran a 850 mile load in one day in a truck governed at 64. This person has been doing for years. They stop, unplug the qualcom, leave it unplugged and start rolling again or unplug the qualcomm cut their brakes short to get a head start and plug it back in once their break is up when they actually left 3 or 4 hours before. The company is well aware of the drivers doing this but they don't care as long as deliveries are made on time. My trucks must been set differently or just sensitive because I had tried it and sometimes I could get away with moving if I unplugged the qualcomm but alot of times it registered movement and would throw me on line 3. If a person is going to cheat a e-logs isn't going to stop them. People used to ask me a the time did my truck shut off when I was out of hours or over hours? No it'll just show a negative for where ever the overage is. E-logs doesn't make a driver any safer than any other driver and should be optional. Hope I never have to go back to them.

What you describe early in your post would make me nuts as well. The system I use at Crete (same one as I had at Schneider) isn't so rigid, so it's quite livable. As far as having to make those inconvenient changes, they become habit after a brief time...you just know to expect them.
I've never had to go to line 3 just because I moved from the fuel island to a parking spot. It sounds like what you had was a royal PITA.
