cookies aren't that only thing that tracks.

cookies have always been around. but trackers didn't exist in the beginning.

    amazing

working beyond your 70 does not automatically translate into being an unsafe driver, do you guys bother to think about the things your repeat over and over?

going over your 70 translates into being illegal, not unsafe
driving 60 in a 55 is illegal, but not necessarily unsafe
driving 11.25hours is illegal, not necessarily unsafe

what happens when they reduce our driving hours to 8hrs, will that make 11hours driving unsafe?

i find it amusing that having TWO 34 restarts is an issue

i have had two in one week, it is no picnic, definitely not something to prohibit or legislate

if you are having 2 34's, you are not driving, much less fatigued driving, yet those in the know feel that we should not be able to have more than one a week

dont they have better things to think about? if they really cared about safety, there would be Public Service Announcements and classes on how to drive on a highway, staying right, giving trucks room, but an educated population is a dangerous population

The problem is, from my point of view at least if we could work 100 hours a week legally, that is what I would be told to work, if we got a 24 hour reset that is how much time I would spend at home....the values seem arbitrary, but they are seen by my fleet at least as exacting standards. I better not ask for 48 hours off for example, unless I am dying or something.

I think the issue comes down to this, there will be times when people are fatigued and unsafe in the drivers seat no matter the hours worked, but the schedules are not flexible, I cannot arrive to Walmart 3 hours early or threes hours late, for example. This doesn't reflect the real human conditions, sometimes I could drive 16 hours in a row and not be tired, sometimes only 6, it all depends on a great many factors, from diet, quality of sleep to natural metabolism. The HOS rules will never be a 100% accurate determination of who is and isn't being safe.

i wholeheartedly agree, the problem is that men are allowing others to drive their truck for them, and thats the problem

before, drivers were running illegally AND tired, and they say now they feel better with elogs, because they can get more rest

the problem with that scenario is they havent learned it has nothing to do with dispatchers or shippers or recievers, it has to do with the drivers standing up

if you let your dispatcher run you ragged before and now you let the computer tell you when to rest, there is a problem of personal responsibility in action (or inaction)

I let the fact that if caught I don't have $100 plus to shell out for going over my hours. I wish there was a way a computer or a dispatcher or a bill that's due. Could make you stay up longer. How much would people save on all these energy drinks. Just have your dispatcher call you every 5 mins or tell your wife to send you a picture of the bill that is due. Or have your computer always whispering sweet nothings to you.

When you are tired you are tired. No amount of 5hr energy, Red Bull, Monster, Coffee, dispatchers, fear of being late is going to stop that. Yes you might can run on the adrenalin for awhile. But for your sakes you better hope your body alerts you to pullover before its shuts down. Or else hitting that ditch, that car, or that bridge will wake you up. But for some that is the last thing they see or feel before they meet there maker. So Obey your body image is nothing :)

As long as I am getting the sleep my body needs every day then what is so unsafe about working more then 70 hours in an 8 day period of time?

I can burn up 70 hours in 5 days still get my 10s in and still be rested enough to work 6 days or 7 days or even an 8th day.

If I want to work 14 hours a day for 8 days that that should be my choice. It shoudl not be upto anyone else to say I can't do it and I can't make that money.

Yes it is all about money and supporting my family and being able to have more then just a roof and food on the table. I am so sick of people trying to hold me back that I want to puke.

What makes that last .25 so magically suddenly "illegal"? Because someone said, "don't drive past 11..."?

    Why?
