I finally thought of one way that EOBR's are safer than paper......
With EOBR's you don't run the risk of paper cuts....![]()
Do you feel elogs should be mandatory or optional?

As a O/O who would pay for that?if the government mandates they should have to pay for it
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Does the government pay for the ABS brakes on your post '94 truck? Does the government pay for the DEF system on your post '07 truck?
-
So where does the government money come from? If they have to pay for it, that really means that we are still paying. There's no pot of gold that the government holds.
-
Does the government pay for your paper logbooks? NOPE!
-
It would probably be a deductible expense. Probably, but then again I have no idea.
-
If someone runs a 94 or older they are NOT MANDATED TO have ABS. If someone has a truck older than an 07 THEY AGAIN ARE NOT MANDATED TO RUN DEF. Same should apply for E-logs. If someone has paper and are good with that then they SHOULDN'T BE MANDATED TO SWITCH TO E-LOGS.
Post ABS isn't any unsafer or needed, Post DEF isn't any safer nor needed, and the same for E-logs. They are not safer nor make one more compliant and there for are NOT NEEDED but if one chooses to have them then so be it. So there went your statement that proved nothing.7-UP Thanks this. -
Nope I do and that is why I should be able to keep them. My money I choose where and how to spend it. Would you like someone mandating that you have to buy your tires from a certain place or mandating what type of tire you run? How about someone mandating where you buy your fuel? Oil? Parts? I could go on and on but I think you should get the point. Well just in case... Oil is oil, fuel is fuel, parts are the same, tires are tires and its my business where I choose to spend my money not anyone elses. That should do the job. ThanksLast edited: Nov 1, 2012
7-UP Thanks this. -
What you'll get is if a truck is older than some age, no eLogs are required. Or if a truck doesn't have XYZ, no eLogs. Or at least that's how I envision it. I'm wrong a lot, just read what I post
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
If they were to not require you to run elogs on a mechanical truck then you'd see older truck prices skyrocket. The '80's w900a I was liking at would go from $49k to $68k overnight haha.
EthanMeltom and volvodriver01 Thank this.
