i kinda have to agree with the other member, those brakes were good to roll with. now, had they had a CHUNK missing, then maybe you'd have something to be concerned with, but then again, how much of a chunk*, is too much? all that you had was a slight space between the shoe and the pad, and what seemed like the typical heat cracking.

*chunks come in all size dimensions, like a tiny bit of the corner, or half the entire pad, or the whole pad...

yes, you are doing your job and doing a proper pre-trip, but being new as you say you are, you really have to be more intune with what is workable, and what is not..it'll take you some time, but i too would not have sit for several hours.

it comes with experience knowing when to sit, and when to rock and roll.....

But, honestly it depends on the company if they even care about their company trucks. I say, don't worry about anything happening while your driving and just monitor the brakes.

true, but unless it is a total skank company, if the mechanics say "roll with it", then it passes inspection, other wise, they'd redline it, at least every single company i ever worked for in my 40+ years has been that way.

I probably wear a helmet and have the windows rolled down, though. Just in case.

    To the OP

As others have said that is a good tire. You need to keep writing up defects thou to CYA! Whether or not they fix it is on them, and off of you. If there is a serious issue you can refuse to drive until its resolved. Or, at least document the issue with video on your phone.

Those tires look a bit dry rotted.

I had a tire like this but only a few inches were separating. I didn't want to deal with the company shop in Dallas so I thought I would roll and get it taken care of at the TA in Sweetwater. Didn't quite make it. There was a small FedEx package delivery van riding my DOT bumper when it blew into 1,000 pieces. Bet he'll never make that mistake again, and neither will I. Could have easily resulted in an accident.
