I can answer any log questions regarding e-logs.
I can answer if you are having qualcomm issue's such as qualcomm is freezing up, it's doing this so I say it's not working but maybe it's someone hasn't explained how it works properly.
Ask and maybe I can help.
I believe in explaining to drivers thoroughly so you might get a long winded answer so be prepared.
Now keep in mind, all log depts/companies have different settings, policies etc, but I will tell you what's DOT regulation to the fullest and
what can be company choice regarding dot regulations.
I used to live on this site and I will try to assist again. I forgot how many drivers I helped and I hope to answer many questions about the new regs coming out on 7/1/2013 and help clarify many myths/misunderstandings about qualcomm/e-logs.
So if it's bugging you or you do not feel your log auditor answered the question or didn't take time to explain, ask me!
Do you have a question about your qualcomm (brand qualcomm units)?

Can an ECM be installed, under my dash, hooked up to power and ground, wired to my electric speedometer and tachometer, then hooked up to a Qualcomm MCP50 and work? I do not have an electronic engine, it is mechanical, however I do have an ECM for a Cummins Celect Plus, laying in my shop. Is this a workable idea?
-
Are you working on a delete program yet ?
Steeleandsonfarms Thanks this. -
I have a MCP100 in my prostar and after many reboots over the course of a few weeks it is running with relative stability (only crashes once a week or so -- usually when running navigo). Anyway, the one feature that has never worked is the external volume control -- either on the remote or the unit itself. The buttons physically work because a bar graph will display and show adjustments corresponding to inputs, but the speaker volume output remains unchanged. The only way to raise or lower volume is through the settings menu (which unfortunately is not accessible when the vehicle is in motion).
Is there anything I can do in the field to fix this glitch?
Also is there anything I can do to increase the brightness (beyond the display settings)?
And is there anything I can do to decrease the time it takes to change between menus? -
can you use the Qualcomm log to fight a speeding ticket you know is not correct?
And why/how?volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
ok.. That's over my head l.o.l. sorry.. I am no tech but I just know if you are having qualcomm issue's or e-log issue's I can maybe help.
I know I have drivers their truck is to old for the qualcomm. I can advise you to call qualcomm and ask them. I don't know their number by heart but they have a 24/7 tech support line. Let me know if you want it, It will be tomorrow before I can reply -
If you was not speeding, your log should kind of prove it but the problem is, it doesn't really prove you was not speeding at the time the officer clocked you. You only have point a to point b and total miles driven.
I may have driven slower in traffic at some point and speeded to make up later.. meaning point a to b was done in normal amount of time and total miles driven. The shop might give you a summary of what your truck was doing on a specific day. If your truck is goverened at 65 and they say you did 70, you can prove that... -
Is there anything I can do in the field to fix this glitch?
Hvae you had a soft reset done or a hard reset? If both, it's probably a shop issue.
If not: contact your log dept and someone should be able to try a soft reset or hard reset.
Warning: Doing soft/hard resets your ignition must be in the "on" position or your driving is fine for up to they say 30 minutes.
The reset usually is done within 15-20 minutes. To do this you want to call logs/qualcomm when you are parked but able to be in truck
driving or sitting with the ignition on.
If hard reset, it deletes all in n out messages. I would approve logs prior to hard reset and they require you to log off the e-logs.
Also is there anything I can do to increase the brightness (beyond the display settings)?
There should be a button on your qualcomm that you can change it or you can
scroll down on home menu, go to settings and look for display (I believe) and look for contrast. Move it all the way to the right or highest percent. I don't go in that often to know by heart. Ldet me know and I will look tomorrow if you can't get it to what you want.
And is there anything I can do to decrease the time it takes to change between menus?
If you are on the 100 or lower, unfortunately not but if it's extremely slow, I would contact qualcomm. If I recall correctly, the soft/hard reset might fix that problem. You might need a new black box to, not sure. I would do the soft reset, if that fixes all problems (except the contrast)
there was the problem. Computers get glitchy and need reset.
Sometimes it takes a hard reset to complety restore several things.
let me know if your log dept say's they can't do a soft or hard reset. you might have to go through qualcomm, which in return they will need permission from your log auditor.
I have found many office staff are not aware of soft/hard resets can resolve many qualcomm issue's. It's if the company has allowed and taught them. I learned from qualcomm and encouraged IT to allow me access to do this for our drivers without contacting shop or qualcomm. -
The ones I have seen show a time stamp, speed and location.Attached Files:

Ha! Ha! that's funny Cat.. No deleting.. Only going foward to hopefully help qualcomm improve it to make it easier on drivers
Well as easy as it can get, it's already easy l.o.l.
I don't work with qualcomm, just log dept...I know quit a bit on logs/qualcomm glitches etc. I want drivers to know the system to the fullest
