Just like to ask truck drivers if they have a routine when they stop for rest/break. Like shut the engine, get down, inspect the trucks, get some food, log your trip, surf the net etc. I'm just curious if it's like a routine or pretty much a different set of things you do every stop.

Can't believe you didn't get any response on this. :(

My routine consist of, getting out of the truck, quick walk around to check the tires and seals, eating, returning to truck, catching up my log book, going to bed.

I may do some reading, or I may sit for awhile inside and swap lies.

I DON'T park as close to the truck stop as possible. I park away from the front, reduced traffic/noise and an extended walk. :)

I get my work call at home - have 2 hours to show up at work - get my paperwork done - go out and pretrip the truck - hit the road - usually stop every 200 miles for a few minutes - arrive at destination terminal and either go to bed (hotel) , turn back towards home (a ""turn""), or go on to another (2nd) destination and go to bed or home from there...

most times I am either back home at the end of my day - or out for 1 or 2 beds... a few times I have been out 3 beds - never 4 or more.

    A routine?
    Hmmmmmmmmm

    I routinely expect the unexpected.

But when things are under my control, I usually shower and relax prior to sleeping. I like to wake up early in the AM and get a cup of coffee to go, pre-trip the Big truck and trailer, get my log book in order, and hit the road.

After a few hours of driving, I like to stop and eat breakfast. One good thing about most truckstops, they serve breakfast 24 hours a day and night.
Then drive till lunch, and after that, I like the option of a short nap. Then finish up my driving hours and do it all over again.

I'll usually fuel in the AM also, and combine the On Duty -- Not Driving time fueling with my pre-trip. And times match my log book.

The new HOS don't allow that though. At least not without losing working hours. That ain't right and it ain't safer. It's a desk driver thinking THEY know what's best for US.
    They apparently don't.

    But that's another story.

On full Moon nights, I want to drive at night across the desert, and plan my stops accordingly. I like having the ability to choose when I prefer to drive. It varies.

In mountain areas, I like to stop for a couple of hours at rest areas with a babbling brook. Very relaxing.

Once, I stopped well off the highway in South Dakota to sleep, and woke up with a mountain lion on my hood.

Times you wish you had a camera. It would have been cool to see that.

    No kiddin'!!

    Hey!
    I LIKE cats.
    Seven of them own me.
    Regular size though.

And I like BIG Cats ---- UNDER my extended hood.
    But ON my long nose?
    No.

    Although I can't blame him.
It was a cold, dark night.
    Weather was clear.
    Windy at times.

    Eyelids started gettin' heavy.

I was only planning to sleep for about four hours, so I shut the engine off to listen to the Big trucks coming and going on the highway. It was one of those nights that I could hear forever.
    That lulled me to sleep.
I didn't set the alarm, but I woke up when I wanted to.
Why that Big cat didn't wake me when he climbed on that warm hood is beyond me. Maybe because the wind was rocking the truck from time to time.
    I dunno.

SO how did you get rid of meow meow? Surly you didn't do it the easy way. And and step outside your truck and grab it by the tail, and gave it a big tug..:biggrin_25525:

    Freightliner Classic?
I couldn't reach it even with the hood tilted open.
And had to look at it for almost 450 miles.

I bet he was like all cats and just jumped down when you started the truck. However, you must have done a false log entry for the pretrip that morning..:yes2557:
