No disrespect to you as a veteran but I'm sorry but you do need it in writing if you're a company driver. Right at the start of requirement §392.60 it says "authorized in writing". If you're an O/O then you should state so because you know that some new drivers do turn to a driver with your years for advice.

I have a quick question while on the subject of passengers riding along...I am supposed to be going with my husband in a couple of weeks for the first time. I'm really excited, but a little nervious too. My question is...what do the girls do about going to be rest room? I know it seems silly, but I know that men have it a little different. They have a couple of options when it comes to relieving themselves, while women...well ya' know. If anyone has any input I would love to hear it.

    Thanks. :)

Well...you say "honey....dear"...*whispering softly in his ear, of course*...at the next rest area...or wherever there is a rest room....stop, because I need to...powder my nose, and drop the browns off at the super bowl. "

or something like that. lol :biggrin_25526:

Seriously tho...not all drivers use pee bottles or whatever. It depends on where they park. And if they have to sit down and do some paperwork...most likely they will find a rest area, scale, truck stop...etc where they can park. The best thing to keep in mind that it can be a few hours between each stop, and some places...there might not be good stops for a while, so just give him a heads up with plenty of notice so he can plan out where to stop.

Some drivers carry portable camp toilets while others will use an empty water jug with the spout cut off to make it wider for the ladies to use while the truck is rolling and their is no "facility" available. A 44 oz cup will work in a pinch as well.

Other than that rest areas and truck stops are the first choices. Be aware that many women do not feel safe at night crossing a dark parking lot to get to the truck stop bathroom so many of them will resort to the empty jug method and empty it in the am. If you do decide to use this method be courteous and dump the contents in the grass behind the trailers rather than simply pouring it out on the pavement where it will bake in the sun and create that pungent odor we all know so well.

You are not scoring points with the flatbedders that go back there in the grass to climb on the back of their trailer to get on top of their load.....:biggrin_2554:

Crazy tip... take some large disposable diapers, a roll of 2 gallon trash bags, and a small bucket... this works very well when you just HAVE to go and there is no bathroom in site...
