Do you have to file 2290 right after buying semi truck

    You need a certified copy of 2290. A certified copy of articles of incorporation. Something with your business address on it , like a phone, utility or bank statement under business name mailed to the address you incorporated under.
    you need the certified run number.
    And you need all of that every year when you go to get tags.

    Yep. Buy a truck and you do not need a base plate to drive it back to your home.

    Can't get base plates without all the crap. Proof of ownership is just the title or whatever the dealer in your purchase state gives you.
    Can't operate legally without ifta but can get a temp sticker online if you have an issue.
    Took me a month to get plates cuz of all the nonsense required .
    you can not get plates first at least in Kansas. I assume that is everywhere.
    You need ein to get 2290. I used truckdues.com to get mine. Real fast and can always get a copy if you lose it.
    I bought my truck in mo. Then had to get title inspection in Kansas. Then the tag office took my title. They do not give it back .
