do you have to go thru weigh station when bobtailing?

Red diesel is not farm diesel. It is off road diesel. Same exact stuff you use, but it has red dye in it and is exempt from the highway use tax. It cannot be used in cars or trucks that are used on the highways. All though many people do it anyway. Since dipping of tanks is very rare these days. There is a very hefty fine if caught. On the highway with any red die in your fuel.

 

Cut a hole in your sleeper floor.

Dont just pay attention to the pre pass though. In La my pre pass showed green, but their WIM scales told me to come inside and get weighed. I've also had a pre pass switch on me, got a red and then a couple seconds later it went green.

Rule of thumb, at least for me, always follow the most strict guideline if you're presented with more than one.

 

Most scales say to follow in cab signal. That would be prepass.

 

I know that. I'm stating that I've had two instances where the pre pass came into question if you will. If I get a conflicting tale from either the pre pass or a live sign (some scales have signs that change depending upon what you weigh on the interstate. La has plates you run over on the interstate, you don't stop at the scales unless you're told. They use both pre pass and live signs.) I'll always follow the the one that'll get me into the least amount of trouble.

Pre pass is a mechanical human made system. It can fail. Better safe than sorry right?

 

If they have both, Then you follow prepass. Just like the sign says.

 

You may be right, but mechanical systems fail. Can't say I've ever gotten into trouble for having that mindset and following it.

If the dot pulls me and asks why, "Just reading all my signs. Your sign said you wanted to see me."

 

I'd say that's a pretty sound way to go about it.
