Have you seen some of the other threads started by the OP? I'm positive the OP didn't know the answer.

Thanks for weighing in on that, no pun intended I promise, I learned my better safe than sorry rule from my previous job. I still think it applies, but any chance to avoid getting flagged down by DOT officer sounds like a good chance for me. However, I still call into question when my prepass changed colors on me. I'm sure someone else has had this happen before, I can't be the only one.

    What do you do then?

I got a red light when the IL scale sign said closed. I pulled in and the scale master gave me a level three.

I got another red light in some other state, at this moment I can't recall, I pulled in and the DOT said, didn't the sign say closed? I said yeah, but I got the red light. He said move along, they must have accidentally left it on.

"PrePass-equipped trucks should disregard electronic road signs.Drivers are to follow the signal given by the in-cab device.
    Wisconsin All PrePass Sites

Ive always assumed to go by the prepass instead of the changeable signs in Wisconsin, glad to see, for once, assuming didnt bite me in the arse. Ive always seemed to get "mixed signals" from wisconsin.

Yeah, I have a feeling he would have given me an inspection that second time too, because he already was inspecting a truck, and the look on the guys face was, I should have just kept driving. I smiled and bounced.

From now on, when the sign says closed, I keep rolling. Unless they have the additional signs that say bypass or weigh after the pre pass, with the rolling scales on the interstate. Like the OK super coup rolling south on I35 past the KS border.

In the end, always seems like the safest bet to just pull in there, and bend over.

The only time I have ever seen something like this is in Florida. Where you go thru a Ag check, and then a scale (or vice versa), both sites have Pre-Pass, and your transponder will give you a new light (signified by a tone from the Pre-Pass box) for each site. Normally, I would have a green from the scale, and then would get a red about 2 miles later from the AG station.

That's what I figure. Get a ticket and have to fight it (seems obvious you would with the sign saying follow the prepass) and probably have it include an inspection or just go in and risk it.

screwed if you do, screwed if you don't. Just choose the one that needs less lube to get through it.

You have to watch out using a farm exemptions any more then 150 radius and get caught is a huge fine or lose your exemption. Just went down this road at 160 miles from home.

If the scale house is open and they are passing out the Turkeys go inside. The only exceptions I can remember was some of the scale houses in Illinois used to have a sign that said no. I have not been through that state in almost 6 years. I honestly can't say what they are doing today.
