So do I do carrier packets after my 3 months (because most don't want you before than, or start as soon as I get that authority?

I said I understood the first time. No need to reiterate, would've preferred a more useful answer. I see that's not your play style tho. Good day.

I was actually worried about the burning bridges thing lol. So I'm glad you told me that is a possibility because I'm literally calling all the people I think I would wanna work with based on the rates. Definitely don't wanna screw that up. Fortunately I'm using my sideline app so maybe I've not did too much damage! Thanks for this info.

Every call can be a new adventure in negotiating. I never liked sales but this is different because the loads are posted by them. There is seemingly an endless supply of brokers and companies to get set up with. Then just when you seem to have it all clicking nicely a year has passed and they all want a new COI because the policy was renewed for the year. Just all a part of it.
To invoice them is kinda the same. Just about all of them have "their way" to submit an invoice.
If you don't see "factor this load" at the bottom of the DAT posting probably shouldn't call them. They dont have credit and will surely be a slow pay. If you can stick to names you know it will probably be better for getting paid.
CH Robinson usually pays in 20 days (not always) and that can help alot. Plus they sendbthe load to your account and using an app you never sign a rate con. Just use the driver app to pickup and deliver.

It’s the internet, don’t get so butt hurt when someone drops a reply that doesn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Besides, I’m not the one on here asking the most basic questions showing my complete ignorance. You might want to grow some thicker skin, this business will eat you for breakfast.

Moe , start packets as soon as you get your authority. Most will work with you. Just a few that wouldn't when we started a couple years ago. I think echo global wanted a full year. A couple were 6 months. They will tell you right away when you give them your mc number which usually the first thing rhey ask after telling you the details lf the load you are calling about and you say " hmmm that should work "

You call on a load that you are interested in on the board, and ask for the details on the load. Then you agree on a price. Some brokers want you MC# before they will discuss the load with you. If your not set up with them, they will email you a carrier packet. After you complete it and email it back. They will send you a rate con, and then the load is yours

^^^^ This. Which is why I have a printer in my truck and do this all on the fly. I still do a couple packets a week sometimes and I'm in my 3rd year.

Yup. Me too. Best buy sells a nice little epson for a couple hundred bucks. Works great. Especially for any airport pickup where you need to print a delivery order. Hell. I could probably charge a buck a page at ohare for the guys who need it and never drive another mile.

I do as well. I think in today's age, a printer and laptop in your truck is a Necessity.
