What percentage of owner operators with authority do you think have memberships to one of the paid load boards like DAT?

Or maybe to ask the question another way, do you think you can be an OO using your own authority and not needing one of these paid load boards? For those that don't, how would they do it? Just relationships?

98% are on a paid load board? There is no way to just find something steady?

The key to success these days, is using the technology. Old days, first find a phone, get phone book out, start calling all your contacts, Hope you get a load.Wait, take what you can get. No Thanks, It’s amazing, I do everything with an iPhone. Search boards, set up loads, via email, and use for gps. Fuel taxes, Everything,Print Hard copies for records when I get home.Load boards level the playing ground. I was surprised to find years ago a Major Carrier I worked for used brokered freight 50 % of time.Booking last minute to maximize pay, and also in order to insure plenty of Trucks to cover Customers. Meanwhile, they constantly hire Drivers to cover turnover, Result- multi million dollar profit and debt free, Customers covered
