That's funny! I was going to say the same thing about my daughter and you know if the trucker did not honk she would get so sad and say he is mean! I would then explain he wasn't looking at you or he could not see you and she understood, but her mind was still wondering![]()
She still loves it and she is 8! It's winter so we don't do it much in the winter as we can't hear the honk very well!
So you all should be honking it brightens the kids day! If you are honking well thanks I appreciate the smile it brings my child (since I bring mainly the mean no's!) :smt042
Do you honk at kids?

I grew up near train tracks, and although we weren't allowed near the tracks, we were allowed to stand on the top of the embankment. The engineer would often see us and blow his horn for us. We loved it!

Funny story. About a week ago we went to pick up the 99 Freighliner that we bought. It was 0 degrees that day and the truck only had number 2 fuel in it. So the dealer put it in his wash bay overnight to make sure everything was warm enough so that we could drive down to the station and add some number 1. So, we go to pick it up and as my brother is finalizing the book work I go back to check the truck out closer. Now, on out other truck to sound the horn there is a long cable that comes out of the ceiling and is attached under the screw that holds the sunvisior. On this truck there was no cable. But, there was a little piece of rope hanging down on the side near the visor. I couldn't figure out what that rope was for and forgot about the air horn. So I gave it a tug to see if it was just stuck there . Boy, if you think those horns are loud outside try sounding one inside a brick building. I was sooooo embarrassed. :smt037
I half expected someone to come running and chew me out. Strangely all the mechanics just kept working and seemed to almost hide in corners or behind there toolboxes. I wonder if they get yelled at by there boss for doing that and were afraid they would end up getting blamed. -
Oops, double post.

THat's funny! Them mechanics horse play so you may be on target with that assumption! They could also thought you was honking at one of them! UH OH
-
To all those drivers out there who were taught to tap their horn b4 backing up, nice habit but dont do late at nite in a sleepy truck stop. Thk you from all the 'Normal' ppl!!
-
Stevens said we weren't allowed to, but I did anyhow. It was kind of embarrasing tho, because the horns on the Pete 387's lack that deep sounds that most trucks have, sounded more like a Porsche beep/horn.
-
I've had a couple that have. I even had a few dim their lights ater I flashed them.

i always do.i had a truck w/ train horns and that sucker was extremely loud.i love to see the kids smile & wave.
