That was just completely uncalled for. Chauvinistic, and mean-spirited as well. Totally not cool. Grab a smoke, maybe you'll calm down a bit...:biggrin_25513:

Well, really, just look at the hiring guidelines for these companies. Nice detailed descriptions of all the offenses they'll forgive...DUIs, traffic tickets, UA violations, felonies. Think they're worried about smokers? :biggrin_25513:

Now black cat you are old enough to know that smoking wasn't an issue until the mid 80's. Anyone that smoked before then it was okay. You ain't the one trying to quit a heroin like addiction.

Trucks can be cleaned. There are ways. Get to work and stop crying. Them $100,000 trucks eventially end up in a junk yard. Probably from air breather cancer. :)

Be a little more dependable and stop quiting your job and you just might get a new truck! Put the Twinkees down too. They'll kill you just as easy.

You know how you fight fire with fire? I can give you two cigarette filters to stick in your nose, lol.

Over the course of the almost 16 years she has been "just a truckers wife" this lady has learned more about the workings of any company, inside and out...also during the previous 2 years, she has studied and learned more about truckers rules and regulations, state employment codes, federal employment codes, legal cases involving more than 100 companies and individual truckers, and has actively participated in the trying of one said case at the federal level.

This "just a truckers wife" knows more about this industry than you will ever know, and has more compassion about truckers rights than you could ever muster. If you think being "just a truckers wife" is a walk in the park, where they just sit at home and "bake biscuits" you are farther down the intelligence ladder than I thought. What these women have to put up with at home, alone, raising the children, consoling the children when Daddy isn't there is a task in itself...add in the fact that this "just a truckers wife" takes care of both her parents and a 5 acre property, by herself while I am gone...she is quite a dream to have and one with your attitude will never find an equal to.

You are quite the pompous, pious, piece of work!

Maybe you should put that in your pipe and SMOKE IT!

Otter, my friend, pay no more mind to the troll under the bridge.

He's nothing more than a pot stirrer.

I'm not ashamed to say that I'd be deeply disappointed if the powers that be of our beloved little forum here don't rid us of this particular troll's presence post haste.

Might I also say that you have one fine missus. She's almost as saintly as mine. :biggrin_25519:

Just how heavy is that thumb on your neck...about 200 psi on mine!:biggrin_25525:

And that has absolutely NO correlation to Significant Otters actual weight...which is so highly classified even I don't know...all I can get is "I sure wish I could lose some of "this"...":biggrin_25514:

My uncle played clarinet and sax, big band, made good money. Oh, Until half his throat was removed due to cancer.
Smokers are brilliant, pay to get sick, pay to smell bad, pay for yellow teeth and bad skin. I think it's really smart to start smoking. Enjoy your ciggies

Actually the last statistic I read...and not from a cigarette/tobacco source but from a national journal from morticians....93% of all death certificates list as the PRIMARY CAUSE of death "heart failure", and the actual number of deaths DIRECTLY attributable to "smoking" is only 1.8% of all deaths nation wide.

As for contracting some form of cancer DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE to smoking...less than 12% of cancers are the DIRECT CAUSE of the tobacco use. There is still no study that has within it's study, a placebo group that is "cloistered" on a "pure air" INTAKE. Therefore, the study is scientifically biased in the direction of the desired result by the actuating group. Also there has never been a study done, that removes the study group from outside influences (vehicle emission, manufacturing emissions, regular pollutants in common to the general public, to cite a few) again leaving the study biased to the initiators desired outcome.

Believe what you want, take any study and check the parameters of the study before giving too much merit to the study outcome. Most, if not all are designed to favor the group initiating the study. Also, a study done in the bowels of a city, compared to the same study done in a cleaner air environment such as in the farm belt 100-200 miles from a civic center, will give radically different outcomes.

My grandfather smoked for 75 years, died at the age of 93, and the cause of death was "complications to gunshot wound received in WWI", go figure! No mention on his Death Certificate of smoking or tobacco use...that has only become an "issue", a biased issue since 1980's. Keep falling for the study groups ""findings"...but be careful, they might say something like...."According to a national survey, more lemmings died today than smokers...the population needs to smoke more to keep the human demise higher than the lemming demise"....would you follow the advice of that study if it came from the National Institute of Cancer Research?

I couldn't care less if smoking kills you or not. (And dont tell me is isnt bad for you, I mean c'mon) I don't get how people even pick up the habit?? It stinks, it looks stupid, it costs money.
I understand smoking weed (i dont do it) but I understand it---you get high.
I dont see what smoking does for you. I smoked a few cigarettes in my life. Makes me a bit nautious. Why do people keep doing it to the extent it develops an addiction?
Trust me , smokers smell bad.

I love that one too..."the last statistic I read"
    Remember 'reefer madness'
and how about alcohol is bad, then well one glass of red wine is good for your heart. and now the Docs are saying that is not necessarily true. It's always changing, They're always finding out new information. Inhaling smoke into your body is just bad. Do it if you want, but not in my car :p
