The handbook that is given to all new drivers says that swift wants written 2 weeks notice if you are going to leave company. If you don’t give 2 weeks notice than you may be penalized for not doing so.
Any truth to this or can one quit on the spot or on home time without any negative
repercussions.

The answer is a huge resounding NO. You don’t have to give notice. You do need to have the truck and keys turned in properly, no undelivered load sitting on it.

What could they possibly do to you if you don’t give notice?
Tb0n3, IluvCATS, Puppage and 1 other person Thank this. -
People quit on the spot all the time. If you give them two weeks notice, then they will send as far away from any terminal as possible.

If you don't give 2 weeks notice the only thing you'll do is burn a bridge and quite possibly get a lousy reference.
Any reasonable prospective employer will respect your wishes to run out a couple more weeks as they themselves would appreciate that courtesy from youTb0n3, classic_150, A Bug and 1 other person Thank this. -
Tell them to take this job and shove it you don't work here anymore!
bzinger and motocross25 Thank this. -

Coover, olddog_newtricks, IluvCATS and 1 other person Thank this. -
