    I lean heavily towards no.
I almost never park in anything but a proper space at a truck stop.
If spaces are full I leave.
I've gone years without ''making my own space'' at all, and have never done so if it would block spaces
or leave people without ample clearance to take a turn in the lot.

What I don't understand for the life of me is all the guys that "shut down early" so they will for sure get a spot, WHY ARENT YOU GONE EARLY THE NEXT MORNING???

No I don't. If I get in late and can't find a spot I will just pay for one. I get reimbursed. I would rather pay the twelve dollars than have a trailer dragged across the front of the truck. Alot of drivers refuse to pay for parking and I can understand why. However it seems like much less a hassle than getting hit or hitting another rig.

Do the math. Divide your deductible and lost wages by the cost of parking and the projected number of times per year you may use pay parking and look at that number. Also factor in the convenience factor of having more facilities then a rest stop. Lastly look at the sitting duck law especially if you’re carrying hazardous materials.

I was also led to believe that pay parking is tax deductible. Not 100% sure on that.

I think in the last 6 months I used pay parking maybe 6 times now. That’s a cost of around $80-90. Some pay parking is now $15. Easy decision for me.

I've always deducted parking expenses. I don't know if company drivers will still be able to deduct parking this year though.
