In a company truck spec'd out the way ours are yes it does... First off, it drops RPM just enough that slight grades bog you down which requires downshifting which slows you even more. Secondly, when you are on electronic logs, that translates to at minimal a 25 mile shortfall, then if you do that daily, which we encounter this scenario daily, now we are looking at 150+ miles a week, which that in turn can mean late appointments, or not being able to reload, etc...

Now, all that being said, I am in a 65 mph truck, I wait until I am going to have little to no impact on faster traffic, however, there are times this is impossible... And to that I say, I pay taxes to use the roadway just the same as everyone else and if I need it, I will use it.... I don't agree with governed trucks, but the company I drive for has them so it is what it is... Instead of cussing the driver, talk to lawmakers....

I came out of a wide open Pete to drive this slow truck.... By my choice I might add... It's getting too scary out here with everyone (lawmakers and law enforcers and citizens) being against us... I've drove 15 years, and knock on wood, no moving violations, and no accidents on my record... #### sure don't want to wind up in prison because a drunk driver hit me but I am "at fault"....

First of all, just because a truck is wide open doesn't mean you have to speed. I see more eggregious speeding by governed trucks (in town, through construction zones, in school zones) than by O/O's anywhere, which leads to the hypothisis that by limiting speeds below the speed limit on the open road actually ENCOURAGES speeding when the speed limit drops. Elogs and the pressure a driver feels to put as many miles behind him during that strict window of time further exacerbates that issue...call it the need to "make up for lost time".

Second, just because you're running a paper log doesn't mean you HAVE to cheat. You can run a paper log 100% legal IF you choose to do so. And just because you're on elogs doesn't mean there aren't ways to cheat those. In fact, in the event of a bad wreck, BOTH log types WILL be scrutinized to ensure ALL of your time has been properly logged. Do you log line 4 as you are required to in the regulations? Or do you log "off duty" or "sleeper" when you are actually performing work?

In other words, a slow truck with elogs won't save your skin in the event of a wreck if you've been misbehaving, and a fast truck with paper logs won't necessarily hang you. It is all about what YOU do with what you have.

You are 150% correct about governed trucks being the worst at speeding in towns/construction zones.... I don't... For one, tickets cost way too much money and I don't like "giving" my money away... As for the paper log vs elog, I can honestly say I log it legal on elog... Paper logs, I plead the fifth.....

Never really used the speed... Unless it was to get on around someone going a fuzz more than me... Otherwise I typically set my cruise somewhere just below (like a click or two) below the posted limit

Just because the computer "allows" something doesn't make it "legal", just like a computer may flag a violation when in reality no violation exists due to the various exemptions and allowances which may or may not apply to you at the time.

You are correct... But in my case, and I am sure others are the same, I log it as I do it... Fear of the lawyers and such....
