Do you pass trucks governed 1mph less than you?

Coming over the Grapevine a few days ago and as usual it was a big fustercluck. An empty Prime was so excited about finally being able to pass, that he ran the ticket lane almost all the to the top. He even passed Fedex. Bet he'll be telling his grandkids about that.

If you run into a truck going 1 mph slower and you slow down 1 mph, next thing you know you'll catch up to another truck going 1 mph slower than that, then another and next thing you know you're stuck behind prime lol

If drivers had any common sense the 1 mph slower truck would slow down 5 mph to let you pass then speed back up. But there are too many inconsiderate brain dead drivers on the road to be "inconvieneced" by that.

I'm governed at 65 and I run into the 66mph truck every now and then. I just bump it down and let them get away from me

I pushed hard when I was on the highway, and it almost killed me (not accident, just stress and no sleep). Worrying about average speed and pushing to the limit of the HOS is something that will eventually lead to burnout or severe accident and is very unprofessional.

My Pete is governed at 105 km/h. Volvo's are governed at 104 km/h. I often tried passing them on four lane highways, and it took so freaking long I just gave up doing 105 km/h. It's much easier just to fall back behind and pass if they fall below the posted speed limit.

And people who pass on inclines are the worst. Especially when they are loaded and expect to pull stronger than a 550 C-15.

Well, you can never tell one mph.

I'm governed at 64. If I'm running 63 and running into your bumper, I'm gonna pass if traffic isn't already congested.

1 mph I don't care. 2 mph this is actual money.

When you're being passed slowly, just slow down to 55 or so and let it happen. THAT costs you nothing and keeps traffic flowing. Flash the guy and go back to your cruise speed. I do it all the time. But no, I'm not going to follow you at 3+5 mph slower, especially if your speeed vacillates a lot.

Only truck I ever drove with predictive cruise used to do that to me all the time. Going 70 get behind truck doing 69 it would adapt. So on and on behind each progressively slower truck. Eventually I would look at speedo and would be going 45 wtf?

2mph difference in speed is money? Some of you guys need to wake up and smell the coffee.

2mph isn't going to affect anything.

...and that's why you have no business behind the wheel of anything larger than a bicycle. "Me first" is all you care about, and don't give a rip who you're holding up. Trying to pass that 64 mph truck with your 64.5 mph truck just blocked the 75 mph highway for 15 miles. That means every car, truck, and motorcycle in the line of traffic behind you just lost a good chunk of that time you allegedly "saved" for yourself...and then you wonder why people flip you off, cut in across your nose, brake check you, and other immature, reckless, and dangerous acts in retaliation.

YOU chose to drive for a company that governs their trucks. If you don't like it, go work elsewhere or buy your own rig. Courtesy is something that is severely lacking on the roads today, and especially in this industry.

And for what it's worth, I did rent a 64.5 mph truck for a couple weeks while I was having a new motor put in my truck...and I wouldn't pass anyone if I didn't have 4-5 mph on them with a good mile or so of clear highway behind me. If you can't do the speed limit, you have no business out there in the left lane if you're blocking traffic.

There never use to be governed trucks. A different time. I think 1 truck I drive is governed at 75. There's an old truck analogy. Drive your own road.
