Do however keep in mind when you run illegal you are taking that risk and your dispatcher is taking a big risk also. Many of these dispatchers do not understand the risk they are taking by asking you to run illegal.
They yes themselves can go to prison for asking you to run illegal or all the officer has to do is prove the "company" is allowing you to run illegal. When you run over your 11/14/70 hour the DOT/ Courts consider the company at fault and also the driver. So please make sure you are doing what's best for you and when job searching ask if they run legal and hopefully they are being sincere when they say yes:biggrin_2556:

You could do this by calling several people within the company (not just logs or dispatcher) and ask them, "will I be expected to run legal here"?
    It might help, really.

Whatever you do, don't run illegal because of someone mistreating you, you always have DOT to make an official complaint to and they WILL check into it. Just make sure your logs are clean, if you log illegal they will assume you are just as guilty and disclaim that complaint.:biggrin_25523:

I stop the full 10 because my time report is compared to my log. No room for error.

When I first saw my Dad filling out his logs, I was interested & wanted to know how to do it & understand it. To this day, I still don't understand how you can lie on your logs & not get caught. I knew of other truckers doing it, like my friends father, so I asked my Dad how that man got away with it, he tryed explaining, but I still didn't get it. There are only so many hours in a day.,. :biggrin_25521:

That's why many would be day's off on their log sheet:biggrin_2554:

So they show on their log getting to Indy on 12/1 but they really got there on 11/30. Not good because duh the bills show you getting there on 11/30. Many companies tell drivers just to match the fuel, dot inspection & accidents. Reality is DOT checks EVERYTHING you turn in:biggrin_2554:

I am however glad you don't know how to cheat:biggrin_25514:

I'm not a trucker, my Dad was...but I still wouldn't cheat, my Dad didn't cheat. I have the utmost respect for good truckers. :biggrin_25520:
I do understand (kinda) what you're saying about being days off on their log, but my Dad had toll, fuel & phone bills to turn in to his boss so he could get reimbersed...and isn't it written down when you pull into a weigh station? I remember them taking forever (so it seemed to me), but I knew we were legal & I was more worried about getting back on the road, so I could observe everything. :biggrin_25519:

Sorry thought you was now a driver! Well that is probablly why your dad ran legal he knew the company was checking all these things. Some don't either know or can make them match (if the log auditor doesn't look at them closely the driver can get lucky).

But be proud your dad didn't cheat :)

L.O.L. Well at least dad made you come home safely and showed you around the world some, RIGHT?

So I am happy you have gotten to experience it without living it:biggrin_25520:

Yes, Dad made sure I was always safe (I'm a Daddy's girl :biggrin_25520:)
He had to answer so many questions while we were on the road that I was suprised he even took me out again...LOL! I wanted to know everything, including "are we gonna get through the light before it turns red again?" ha ha, he just laughed at me. I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world, being in the big rig with my Dad.
I really like it here on these boards, makes me feel closer to him. :biggrin_25519:
    Nice people here, too.
