apparently i know enough to read the LAW......And realize which way the wind is blowing.........And since no one has ever been able to show me an example of regulations getting EASIER, i am gonna go with "it will be universal sooner or later, better get used to it"

mind you, i agree with you that the HOS are....not efficient. And they allow for zero judgement calls. Thats not the best way to run a railroad. But, it's just like the guys that say "I DONT CARE IF POT IS ILLEGAL, I AM GONNA SMOKE ANYWAY"

I agree with them too, i dont think pot is a big deal, but it is illegal and you WILL get hammered sooner or later. And when you do, it will be your own fault

I didn't label you. All I did was list four groups. You chose one and placed yourself in
    it.

I love how people suggest e-logs and 'run legal' are synonymous.

Though I do get a touch creative with my paper logs now and then they would do better under real scrutiny than many of the e-logs from what I hear and read.

If it ever comes down to a thorough examination in court all those guys who think they're saving their 70 by going off duty below 5 miles an hour (or whatever their system lets them do) and while sitting at the controls in traffic back ups you better hope all that time that should have been logged on duty doesn't put you over your 70.

Just wait until they are mandatory and DOT starts taking a good hard look at some of the practices used.

Just because your company has set them up to not scream at you in certain situations doesn't mean you're technically legal.

That's why if I'm going to run over my hours I just do it. I don't log out, I don't do the drive under "xx" mph, I just drive. It doesn't show a red line on the graph. I don't do it every day, not at all.

Its more of a once in a while thing, when I get behind on my work day due to delays in traffic, loading, unloading, and dispatch. It rarely happens but it has happened.

Its very easy for someone to say "just run legal" until they are the ones in the situation of do I break the law to get somewhere safe or do I follow the law to the letter and just pull over 20 miles from a truck stop, customer, or rest area? Then and only then can you say something.

I'll tell that guy something, I used to say "why don't people just run legal" and supported elogs a lot when I was new. Until I learned that things don't always go as planned. You can trip plan to the moon and back, doesn't mean the planets are going to line up like you expect.

The more things change--the MORE they stay the same--Will E-Logs be mandatory--Im sure at some point they will--Im sure as well--when the first rule comes out--the LAWYERS on both sides will be salivating at their opportunity to retire on this latest court battles---only took 18 years to codify the new HOS--then 7 years of fighting to change them--then 2 years till part was vacated--E-logs will go the same way--not that I know what Im talkin about--Im STILL waiting on my jet pack--they promised me at the Worlds Fair in 64....lmao
