Do you shutdown when the 14 hour clock is up no matter what?

Even with the weather/traffic exemption you can't go over your 14 legally anyway. I would run it in. When empty if I couldn't stay there I would use personal conveyance to the truck stop. There's really not too terribly much that trip planning will change when your 14 is the clock you're racing. I generally bump a dock 3-5 times a day and the way shippers go these days there really isn't such thing as trip planning at that point. Could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours getting loaded and now your masterful trip plan is shot to heck.

Mira certainly clear in this thread who actually drives and who doesn't.

You can use the truck as a personal conveyance (PC)as long as you are not under dispatch or laden. I have used it but the key is the city that you take you PC you must return there. If you go from point A to point B, you must be back at point A when you start your next dispatch.

you do not have to return to any place, if it is your truck and your trailer, you can technically drive across country, empty

now, most barneys will write you up, but you can fight and win it

How many companies would actually pay me double or even any extra money for breaking the law ,try zero to none.So in other words it won't happen.

What im saying is considering what companies pay I will NOT bust my ### working all my hrs and only get paid for the hrs on line 3 then do my dispatcher any special favors to get a load delivered unless hes willing to pay me double or a satisfied hourly wage.We all know that will never happen.I never will be that energetic to work over my 14 just to please my dispatcher.Companies don't appreciate the drivers anyway. Also im not talking about hrs after my 14 either maybe an hr at most. But like I said he is going to have to pay me extra and like I also said that will never happen.

One thing I've learned about where I work is how lazy some people can be. We have one guy who loaded his trailer for a store that needed the fuel and then called dispatch and said he didn't have enough hours to load it. Dispatch asked him why he loaded it, they ended up having him bring it back to the yard and had a different driver deliver it.

Then we have a few others who only see this as a 12 hour job and that's it. They'll turn in work just to get off early and then complain about not making money.

When dispatch asks me "can you get all this done?" When I look at how much work they gave me, I always say I'll stay till the jobs done.

Otr I was no different, 20 miles away, get the job done. I understand the risk involved and I understand what can happen if you get caught, but a customer isn't going to give a crap about you ran out of hours. Then your company is going to be upset with you because you didn't get it there. They may not be able to punish you for not going over your hours but it ain't gonna look good.

This thread provides one of the many reasons why I will never work for a mega fleet or ever work for a company with elogs..
