When I was waiting at a dock otr, it was always on line 1. Only time I went on line 4 was when I did flatbed and was securing a load
Do you shutdown when the 14 hour clock is up no matter what?

Thank you for the advice everyone. By the way, I went and delivered the load on time.
One thing I did not mention in my original post was that I average about 10 stops a day so who knows where I will be near the end of the shift. I just get as much as I can done each day.
Really I just wanted to see what others thought about the whole issue.
This particular customer though I know will only take their load in a small window of two hours time each day. So I could have waited an entire 24 hours at that rest stop, but then I would be out $200 minimum for a lost day of work.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Lepton1, allniter and Raiderfanatic Thank this.

That makes a difference on the trip planning. You make good money for what you do.I can see why you went over your 14.Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

The topic at hand is should you or shouldn't you run over your HOS. We are all individuals and we hopefully know what the rule of law is. There are drivers who say "Not going to do it" and others who say "Every time". That is up to you as a driver to decide. I cant throw stones. I have taken heavy loads that I shouldn't have, run poor equipment "for just one short load", and worked WAY more hours than I was allowed. There are rewards and consequences to our decisions. Maybe as I grow older I tend to err on the side of caution a bit more than I used too. I stopped being impressed by the "I make $3,000,000 a year" "I run 5,000 miles a week by myself" "I told that DOT cop to go to hell and drove off" people of the world a long time ago. To the guys who say "I wouldn't have you as a driver" I say "I don't think I would want to be employed by you anyway".

Maybe so but I don't care for him to label me in that category. He doesn't even know me but yet tries to find fault with me in many of my posts for the longest time.He needs to either shut up or iggy me.
