A good driver will never hit an animal, lol.
I've hit a few, I even run over a turtle one time. Quick little bugger.![]()
Do you swerve? Animal in the road, no oncoming traffic.

There is always the option to avoid it, pull over and go Facebook Live detailing everything. Seems like that's what the cool kids are doing these days.

There are only 2 kinds of drivers, the ones who've hit deer, or will eventually. -
I used to hit deer once every two years or so 5 or 6 times total. I was sorry for the animal, but the damages done to the truck made me buy a deer guard. Ever since I run with it, I've never hit deer again. Swerve (depending on its definition) is only good when you control it, that is when it is a premeditated maneuver, if it is a startle reaction then there is nothing good about it and it is better to kill the animal, of course.

Never say never but I can't imagine swerving or 'steering around' any animal that is on it's feet, you have no way of knowing which way it's going to go next. I've swerved around road kill and other stationary objects numerous times though.
