Now, I shower at home because I am home every night. When I shower on the road, if the place is clean, I always tip. Always. You could not pay me to clean the showers. Nasty job. I wouldn't last a day doing that. I tip when I get my hair cut. I tip when I get good service at a restaurant. I tip the dealers at casinos. I tip at the local massage parlor (unless she is a cop). We do not know how much others rely on tips. I try to treat people the way I would want to be treated.
I gernerally tip $1 everytime I take a shower with a few execptions...If the people give me attitude or roll there eyes everytime i walk in to the shower area such as the Pilot in West Memphis,AR I dont tip anything and If I have to wait everytime I try and shower even when the truck stop isnt busy during the day like the pilot in Brooklyn,IA on I-80 I refuse to leave anything....On the other hand if Im greeted by Hi, How are you doing? My name is John DOe would you like another towel or if thereis anything I can do for you please let me know and Enjoy your shower.....then they get a couple extra bucks.... Safe Travels Nick
Soooo can i have a tip for driving your truckload of profit through donner pass in january and through bay area rush hour to make your 5pm appointment safely and on time? No driver, but the lumper fee will be 150bux to unload our truckload of profit off your trailer and it may take up to 8hours because we count the entire load package by package and log it and inspect it and make sure you didn't steal any of it( am i gettin carried away? ) mkay well after this 8hour ordeal im goin to shower at the flying j (if theres any parking left) and tip him for wiping down the surfaces. WANT TO BUY A BACKBONE FOR TRUCK DRIVERS PLEASE MESSAGE ME THANKS I'm not doing good enough to tip for everything like wooly rhino, and i still wouldn't tip. that's the employers obligation isn't it? im paying enough these days cat scales went to 10bux and truck stop prices are at least 50% higher then general stores im paying enough and not making enough. THAAAAAAAAAAANKS
30 years ago if you found a TS with a shower you were lucky we used to have to get rooms most everywhere is worth a tip 2 me Today my carpal tunnel was bothering me hurt my wrist to try and back up into one of those tight spots at tyson with the tandems all the way back i gave the yard jockey a 5 to pull it out of the wash bay and drop it for me as i backed in for my loaded trailer he pulled up and asked me if i wanted him to raise my landing gear for me guess I will be nice more often
If the shower is real clean and she looks like an honest hard working mom I'll tip her. But with a white trash country attitude she aint getting nathan.
It's OK...Nathan ain't innersted in her anywho. I do tip if things are really good. I don't expect it to be perfect (like Wooly Rhino said above....nasty job), but I do expect the effort to be put in. Most I've ever tipped was five bucks. Guy showed me to the shower and made sure everything was good before leaving....and handing me two extra towels.
I only tip if the attendant comes in and washes my back for me...Give 'em my whole paycheck if they wash my front..
I have! It wasn't in cash though. Wrigley's bubble gum gave me a 24pk pack of gum, Some other place gave me a case of marshmallows ( I gave them away at the truck stops ), and Quaker gave me 3 bags of cereal, they even let me pick out which ones I wanted ... ... I've never ever tipped for taking a shower because I never really thought about it, but I probably will start. Not much but I think a dollar would be nice.
I've yet to tip for a shower. I've had to pay more times for them, as I seldom fuel at any T/S that has showers. Here's my thought as tipping... The people that are the custodians do get paid by the T/S correct? Well if it's considered proper to tip them for doing their job, shouldn't we also be tipping the cashier at the fuel desk, or the people stocking shelves, or the guy that goes around early in the morning emptying the trash bins? I mean don't you think the cashier's would be offended not getting tipped? How about this, tell the manager to give that person a raise, and be sincere about it. I don't know if it actually works, but I think if the manager hears this from numerous drivers it should have a serious impact on it.
