Anyway, if orange is illegal, just pour it into another type bottle that is legal.

Isn't Windex a lot more expensive than regular windshield washer fluid? Cutting a gallon of regular water with a quart of rubbing alcohol sounds like a good idea but that stuff is generally sold in small bottles.

Decisions, decisions... Do I have enough fluid to clean the windows or just smear the bug juice all over them???

My windshield is probably dirtier than most but then I don't have an issue seeing through stuff on the window. Now my mirrors, those are a different story. I have to have the side windows and mirrors clean.

Alcohol is a solvent. It will cut the finish of the paint and dull it

Yes the rumor is true. When i worked at an oil change place I was told to fill the giant tank down below with the water hose and then the manager would go down and add the blue dye. That's why we always told the customer "Yes we would be happy to fill up your washer reservoir."

    Omg.

To the op, clean your window with soap and water every once in a while. Dry it well then with a good glass cleaner and replace the wiper blades more often and it will work.

Windex is not to be used as washer fluid, it isn't made for that.

Washer fluid (the good stuff) is made with methylated spirits but most are made with ethanol and ethylene glycol all of which has been a problem for those who don't wash and wax their cars.

Ridgeline, you are a well respected member here who has earned his place, but you're a little off base on this one.

Actually my windshield gets cleaned often & is not the solution to the issue here.

What? Windex is not a glass cleaner..... ????

Ok, I use windshield washer fluid 100% of the time. It does NOT always work. To be a bit more clear on specifically why I asked. If you guys aren't running in the south this time of year, you probably aren't familiar with "Love Bugs". These Love Bugs are smaller than a house fly & at this time of year they mate. They actually fly around by the billions..... yes billions.... during late August or early Sept. They cover your windshield within seconds. Since they are so small, they dry quickly... seriously, they dry VERY fast. No sooner than you wash & wipe the little critters, the windshield is filled again. I am saying billions of them out flying around mating as they fly.
If one hits & you attempt to wash & wipe one before he dries, you wont have washer fluid very long. So, you wait for them to build up over a few minutes (after which most are already dried on the windshield) & they don't come off. At this time of year, the conversations on the CB are about all these #### bugs. You get to the truck stop & trucks everywhere are rubbing & scrubbing these little #######'s off their windshield. You would need a tanker full of windshield washer to keep them washed & wiped before they hit & dry. Now, I am talking about several days, maybe a week of this ..... ummm.... rut.

Therefore.... I wonder.... does any one use Windex (a glass cleaner) in their windshield washer? If not specifically Windex what else have you tried.... cause..... regular windshield washer fluid.... isn't doing the trick. Even if you wash your windshield at every fuel stop (which isn't a factor in this specific scenario).

With all due respect to you, sir.
