As I understand it, companies determine how old your conviction is by the last date you completed your sentence. I was off paper (parole) in 2003. So from 2003 to current has been seven years. F.Y.I. I had a Public Pretender for a lawyer. The crime itself happened in 1997.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Pretty sure they go by the date you were convicted. If they wanted to know when your sentence ended, they'd put that on the form.

In that case, my felony is thirteen (13) years old. I have had them ask when I was off parole, and when I tell them it was in 2003. They tell me that my felony has to be over 10 yrs. contact us in 2013.

you know what?
#### those Canadians!
your felony is over 30 years and they come off like some stiff self righteous pricks.
What about the prime ministers pardon I hear about all the time? -
What you ought to do is go dig up a decent lawyer (some black magic may be required) and go see if you can get that expunged so you never have to speak of it again. It's been long enough to qualify.

It has been my understanding that you can only expunge a a charge on your record that did not lead in a conviction. IE charges that were dropped or indictments that did not end in a guilty verdict or plea.
All charges that have been made even if they are dropped stay on your rap sheet until you have them expunged. -
The STATE of the conviction can (if the state has provisions to do so) expunge a record from the state registry but you will still show up in federal databases. And, Enigma78, you say the crime happened in 2003. Is that also the date that you were convicted. Sometimes, these things can get tied up in the court system for a while. My felony is 16 years old but my conviction is only 15
-
No I was convicted in 1997. I was released from Probation in 2003. And in Ohio, this type of conviction can not be expunged.
