Does any one know how to become a driver for trading-ships?

Are u talking about being a ship Captain??? If thats what u talking about you need to go to school for that plus have many many many hours of practice that is recorded, it will take years and years b4 u become a captain...

 

How about just becoming enlisted in the US Coast Guard just for he experience?

 

I think I will nominate Lupe to become an astronot!!

Now, to quickly answer your question:

"Standing watch" simply means to man (or work) your post (meaning station). Seamen (you and your fellow shipmates) that "stand watch" on ships could be involved in security patrol, manning the bridge (the place where the ship is piloted, where all stations throughout the ship report their statuses to a "supervisor" on duty over a public announcing system; where the captain or commanding officer takes command, etc), keeping watch and monitoring many systems such as fire control systems, engine room systems, electrical systems, etc.

What are you going to do? What are your goals in life? Do you have any long term goals or plans? Are you at the age where you are confused about what occupation you want to pursue in life? Maybe you should seek the help of a professional career counselor. You almost (only almost) sound like me: confused as far picking a career and sticking with it. So, you should talk to a career counselor at a college. You will probably not find the answers you are looking for on a trucking forum.

Yup, that's it. Part of a low tech, hazardous, grunt work operation. There was a reality series about it I saw a while back; some of it looked pretty intense.

There was a bunch of it after the hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico. Some was deep sea stuff, like cleaning up wrecked drilling rigs; other was more shallow water stuff like clearing wrecks from canals and ports.
