Baldwin told me they weren't hiring. My choices are Celadon and Honey Transport or HTI. Small company that does frozen LTL, or the big company that I have heard a lot of bad stuff about. I can't imagine that every driver is unhappy. I heard a lot of bad things about Knight out of Gulfport but I worked there and liked it, and got good miles. HTI has 100 trucks only 2 are open maybe that is a good sign. I don't know what to do.

Hey red...what do you love about pulling reefers?

I have seen several people write what you have (love hate relationship with reefers) but I have never asked for an explantion.

I just accepted a position with a "reefer" company. I am in it for the food. I want to haul food. I assume that food haulers will be there in the end...right with the ####roaches.

I was always amazed at loading at a produce shed in Salinas next to a carrier that just unloaded a placard load 2 hours earlier and was now loading lettuce. That chemical smell wafting throughout the trailer while he loaded lettuce made me think about ever eating salad again. :puke:

Are they still all seafood? They used to run Gulf States to Northwest, sea food bothways 40 years ago. Funny I was thinking about them the other day and I hadn't seen them in years so wondered if they were still in business.

They are on their way out the door. First owner went to prison for running dope back in 2006, brother passed away in December of 2009, and now the idiot kid is running the show and he wants to spend more money on his RV and boat than on the company. Equipment is falling a part, nearly all the APU's don't work anymore, all the trucks have 800,000 or more miles on them, pay is between .29 and .33 per mile. My brother is still there (idiot) and tells me of all the trash happening there. He said he is sitting more than driving. Last few loads he has been lumping other trucks while waiting for a dock door to unload a pallet of ice cream bars and such. He said he has to do something, but is afraid of getting denied on unemployment if he leaves. He is in agreement with me,for him it is worst company to work for. SRT is my worst followed by these guys.
