That's because most are like you and don't know how to run a business.

If you're dealing with brokers, my first piece of advice for the new naive carriers is, do not even bother answering your phone until after lunch. Until that broker is getting ready to go home to his comfortable house, he will not open his wallet to pay you to live in your 6'x6' truck.

If you're so concerned that the broker is making too much then stop using a broker. Go get you're own direct customers

Well just remember there are good brokers and bad bad brokers. There is all so good and bad direct customers. I use brokers to fill in between direct customers. Maybe 30% brokered freight. I have had a direct customer go under and not pay too. Its a balance act. However I dont haul cheap freight. Ive said this a thousand times on here. I will leave it parked in driveway amd polish it before I haul cheap freight". Its much cheaper. To many new guys act like a broker is there dispatch. Brokers act like they are your bestfriend, asking can you help me out. This is not good busness practice. Haul the freight for profit. Yes PROFIT. Its not a dirty word. If I get what I want I really dont care what the broker makes. I dont care of the broker makes 500 or goes negative to pay me. Thats his choice and problem. If I have a good paying load, but have a breakdown, blow a tire, I cant ask for more money on the load. I have to eat it. Its my problem. Same as if I under bid a load, thats my problem.
