What are you doing to help? Life goes on for many people. What is the issue with that? Everybody has to make a buck to live. You can't expect everyone to drop everything to go down there and help out. The whole country would grind to a halt. Why do people take issue with someone making a profit out of this? I mean its not like the money is always easy to come by out here.
Big_D409 and SoCal Trucker Thank this. -
Because the money comes from somewhere. My FEMA mandated flood insurance on my house in Florida, which was protected by a 40 foot dyke, started at $1400 a year. Because people in New Jersey didn't carry flood insurance and got hit, it doubled to $2800 the next year. Then Katrina hit Louisiana and it went up again.
So between the truckers not wanting to go because they might get their socks wet, and the brokers gouging FEMA because they can't get enough to pay truckers, it's ordinary citizens who have nothing to do with any of it who are getting the shaft. -
So you choose to live in Florida and then want to complain that you have to carry flood insurance? Nobody is gouging anyone in Texas.

The F in FEMA stands for Federal, not Florida. If people in Texas, Louisiana, and New Jersey were contributing properly, then other people across the country would not be footing the bills.
I was fine with having flood insurance at $1400 a year, when I signed the papers for it. There was nothing that said I'd be paying for people who didn't have insurance across the country. It's really no different than if your cargo and liability insurance doubled next year for no reason. Should I just tell you that you chose to be a truck driver so you can't complain?77fib77 Thanks this. -
Just keep them donations coming
I hear yah. And what will red cross do with any donations, pay truckers 1500 a day to haul in a load and sit for 2 weeks?
