Sincerely curious about it, I have come upon an opportunity to purchase the aerodyne cab style and it's always been something I have admired. It's one of the newer ones with ECU engine so I feel like the fuel couldn't be worse than say a W900 or 379.

Please, tell me how your experience has been or was with this classic

Here in the western edge of ‘The Hill Country’ of Texas, there is a couple of cabovers that run local everyday pulling belly dump trailers. One I know is a Pete, the other looks to be a K100, flat roof.

@Phantom307 I think it would be so cool to drive a K100E Aerodyne as a daily driver. My all time fav.

4 mpg!? Are you serious? What is he doing, heavy hauler in the rocky mountains exclusively? Never heard of such garbage mpg.

East coast to Denver and back with a reefer, idling, ~70 mph, aerodynamics of a brick…

60 mph head winds through Nebraska will drop a tank down into the upper 3s

Vampire, 77fib77 and Oxbow Thank this.

I run out of Nebraska and do most my miles in Nebraska in a Flat top Cat powered W900L pulling a reefer and I'm usually at 6 on the quarter. I only run 62-65, but still 4 is crazy. The worst I ever got was 4.8 in a quarter running 80mph everywhere I went pulling a cattle pot at 94k.

Most cab overs were comparable in fuel economy. 5.5-6. I’m sure a good operator could squeeze 6.5 out of one.

Well, I do applause your initiative, but using BJ as an example is poor, monkeys are disgusting creatures. Oh so cute in their little clown uniforms, they throw their feces at each other, and worse.
Anyway, moving on from that unpleasantness, great choice. If you have Facebook, the ads are inundated with older trucks. KW cabovers seemed to be more prevalent, because the owners loved their trucks. A IH 4070 B, not so much. Back in my time, the K100 was the top of the line, none better. 4 mpg is a bit on the lean side, most trucks then, regardless of make or engine, all got about 6 to 6.5. We called it the great fuel mileage conspiracy, and an Aerodyne will get a bit more, but a word of caution, once you drive that KWhopper, you won't want anything else.:thumbup::thumbup:
