I frequently run from Akron back down to Texas, and Nashville is always a pain. Looking at the map, I see that I can go west at Elizabethtown, KY and go US 62/I 69/US 51/I 155 and cross the Mississippi and catch I 55. It doesn’t LOOK that much longer than just going down to Gnashville and catching I 40, but I’d hate to go that way and discover that I’m sadly mistaken.
Does anyone here bypass Nashville by taking US 62/I 69/US 51 in Kentucky?

I doubt there is 10 miles difference between the two routes.

Decent road?

Lots of small towns, not sure if 62 and 51 are 4 lane the whole way through. I'd just try it on a trip when you can spare some time.
I lost some time just yesterday at the bridge construction right there where 62/69 crosses over 24 at LBL. Beware. Pay attention to Google traffic right there. -
I think you want the Western Kentucky Parkway out of Elizabethtown not us 62, which does parallel it pretty much. It's been years since I have been that way, but used to pick up in Dyersburg, TN a few times, and would run that way. It used to seem like a long drive, but was all 4 lane highway atleast down to Tn. line bc most of it you may not pass anyone for a few miles. Possibly different now as that was atleast 10 years ago! But according to google maps right now its only 20 mins difference going that way vs. going through Nashville from Elizabethtown to Memphis. Hope that helps.

Oh, yeah, do not take US-62. You want Western Kentucky Parkway.Attached Files:

Yep, I took it yesterday, spent the night here in Dyersburg. Good road and no traffic. It’s a keeper!
