    Hello everyone.

First post. Have been in the business of car hauling for the better part of 18 years. Took a break for 4 years and now looking to buy a new stinger unit. Since 2008 options were limited for builders. Now we have Cottrell, Delavan and Boydstun. Cottrell wait time for a new unit is horrible. Delavan and Boydstun are building again. Was wondering if anyone here is running a new Boydstun truck and trailer. Looking at a Star 3 car headrack with their 7 car quick loader. Anyone have a new unit and feedback please. I know they had a bad rep many years ago. Have things changed???? Good and bad of the units. I'm in Canada and need help. Thanks

There's a few new boydstuns running around vancouver but I haven't talked to the guys. I think boydstun is still testing their new design so there's not mass builds yet. Been watching the new delevan too but I'm not a fan of the galvanized decking. There are other options out there but Cottrell has had a hold of us for so many years now that it's hard to get away from them

I hear you. I was told 6-12 months to get a Canadian spec rig from Cottrell. All the builders are starting to deliver new rigs under US length laws of 80ft (25 meters) which is not yet allowed here. And I dont see it changing anytime soon. Which means 75ft (23 meters) for a while. I like the design changes for the Boydstun and I have a quote for a Peterbilt, but would prefer a WS, still waiting on that quote. And they seem to be super light. But buying a truck from Oregon with a past reputation of bad service scares me a bit. Then again I had Cottrells and had many problems with them too!!! They all have their own share of good and bad. Just really want a good rundown on of these units.....not just the sales pitch!!!

Oh yea. Cottrell had had it really good for too long. They don't have to cater to us anymore because if you threaten to go elsewhere they just laugh because your build date will be snatched up in 10 mins by someone else. Actually I know of a fleet owner here who is selling his build date. Ordered 5 trucks and has no intention on actually taking delivery. He's selling then to his lease ops. That's greasy!!

I know one, it's drive for one PA company, the driver don't liked. But his even don't know curb weight. His said about 42k, but newer weighted. I'm had one and this think don't get rust and corroded fast like my Cottrells. Also like versability of old models. Oh, forgot said why that driver don't like this trailer, when his loaded upper level by SUV, hi said its to hard put something large on bottom first place, because clearance, so, may be boydstun work on that, I'm think this trailer one of the first new model. But for sure its lighter then Cottrell similar model
