Thanks for all the info so far. I've applied to a bunch of companies so far and have gotten a bunch of No's. Trying not to get discouraged. Will continue to apply and hope for an opportunity from any company. Not in a position to be picky at all..

what is a drug felony ? Was is sells, possession or transportation..did you serve state time or county,if your still on parole or probation that could be a problem..a simple possesion charge would be the least frowned on..

I'd try local construction/excavating kind of companies in your area. Also garbage haulers. They tend to be way less picky about your kind of situation. You'll probably have to do some labor with those kind of companies, but you'll get your foot in the door, gain experience, and make some pretty decent coin for your efforts.Actually you'll make a lot more than with a starter company,if you can manage to hook on with a construction/paving outfit. Also try cement delivery companies too. Good luck my man.Keep throwing the proverbial #### against the wall, because something is bound to stick. ;-)

Most carriers who hire felons with drug or alcohol convictions want to see at least a 5-10 year history with nothing in between. However, there are thousands of carriers and each make their own rules concerning criminal convictions. I would think that if you knock on enough doors, one will open. Hopefully, you have kept your nose clean since the conviction. I would check with smaller carriers. They are more likely to give you a chance than some of the mega carriers. As someone else mentioned, you may check with dump truck companies or construction companies. Sometimes, you need to think outside of the box.

TruckDuo, might be the one situation where lease purchase makes sense.

A lease purchase, even a bad one, in his situation could be a foot in the door and gain experience as long as a walk-away lease that would not impact his credit. Put some distance in between him and his felony. Might even be a way to go, doors to knock on. Might look at GabeScott's thread about Renting a Truck from Knight, altho I doubt Knight would accept him. Most megas are too cookie cutter... but who knows?

Once you're in a truck, shippers/receivers don't ask for diddly in most cases. My stop here in Prairie they're supposed to look at my CDL. That's very rare. Night guard does, day guard doesn't. All they look for is that I'm current. Never had one ask for my medical.

Companies are way, way less picky right now.

Mine 'requires' 2-years OTR yet just took on 2 guys from the same class at CR. The first one had his CDL, small amount of OTR, then drove local, went into Army and let CDL go. CR declined to hire him. Company made him the trainer. The 2nd's only 21 but probably has more lead in his shorts than the 'trainer'.

Go figure. Companies are desperate. OP'll get a job... somewhere... as long as he doesn't stop knocking on doors.
