Does anyone know if Werner enterprises makes you sign a contract and if so for
how long. The reason why i ask is i have seen alot of horror stories on here and if they turn out to be true i dont want to be locked into a contract. Thanks for any input you have for this newbie.

If you go through their CDL training school then yes Im sure theres some kind of contract.
Dewey Oxberger Thanks this. -
Thanks for the quick response. I went through school on my own and just got my cdl a couple weeks ago. So i will have to do the 6-8 weeks as a trainee.

Werner is a bottom feeder. Have you tried other companies?Dewey Oxberger Thanks this. -
Yes, i have tried a ton of other companies all the locals want 12+ months of experience and out of all the otr companies that offered me jobs Werner seemed like the lesser of the evils. CR England seemed to be the worse one in the bunch. I really wanted to get with Baylor but they dont have any trainers available in my area. I am a very hard worker and just want to get my experience. My plan is to do my job get my experience and hopefully get with a company like UPS i worked for UPS for a few years and my step dad retired from there so thats my plan but we know how plans work or dont work for that matter

I would love to apply for those jobs but they dont even give you a chance i try calling and with some of them a prompt comes up and says press 1 if u have 12+ months experience and press 2 if you dont you press 2 and it says call us back in 12 months same thing with the websites. I have even tried going to some of the hubs and you just get turned away. I have been unemployed for 7 months now and i just want to get on the road and werner will give me the chance worst comes to worst if it doesn't go well i just leave and try somewhere else. One thing i have learned is theres a lot of otr companies that will give u a chance.

Werner doesn't have a training school. You're in the same position I was. Try Prime. I only went with Werner because they have a terminal in ATL that is closet to me. The closest terminal to me with Prime is Springfield,MO. But if you do decide Werner, they use the 275 hours of drive time as the length of training, not weeks.
Dewey Oxberger Thanks this. -
thanks BossOutlaw88 are you currently with Werner and if so how is it going so far? -
Prime has a terminal in Pittston, PA.
You will be with your trainer for three months, unless they extended it back out to six months like it was when I was there. I did not take their training. I went through Swift for mine.
However, Prime has a lot of Northeast freight. Seemed I got stuck up there for weeks at a time. It's a decent company for a company driver. If all you want to do is put your time in, do NOT sign a lease with them!Dewey Oxberger Thanks this.
