I just shot a MAC 13 to one of the DMs saying I was interested. Talked to my DM and he said out of the 50 drivers on his board 2 have stayed on. Most were money issues though. I should be making roughly the same but be home on the weekends. Was wondering if anyone could give their perspective on it.

That the one where you do all the unloading yourself? Could be fun.

One of the guys I went through orientation with is on that account. Bumped into him a couple of times at the terminal. ... He consumes about 4000 calories a day and is still losing weight. Seems happy, and he's home every weekend

    Heh,sounds lik me lol.
Yeah it's a tough job but the hometime is pretty good.
I'm a Schneider driver but it's the same gig,Dollar Tree hand unload on rollers.
I work out of the DC in Ridgefield,WA and deliver in WA,OR,ID,MT.
Usually 3 trips per week but when it gets busy it can be 5.

Mostly Cali with a little Az, SLC and Vegas. I drive to a store and meet a driver, watch how he maneuvers in cramped quarters and help unload. If I can swing it I sign my life away and grab a trailer for my run. Sounds interesting. I got a load to So Cal that delivered Tuesday so I'll run in and chat with the DMs. They are in the Dollar Tree DC in San Bernardino.

I used to run Dollar Tree dedicated out of Marietta, OK. Ran Texas, oklahoma, Colorado, new mexico, wyoming, and kansas. Home time was usually a 34 at the house every weekend. Pay was good for a rookie. I just couldn't handle unloading anymore, kept exacerbating an old back injury.

I believe it, did it for a few months when I was younger (not driving just unloaded trailers for shopKo) and doing it just once a day got me in good shape.

Out of curiosity when things like this come up what is the route to take so you talk to the right person? Switching fleets, etc. There a directory of dms on different fleets or something?

I asked my DM. He gave me the codes for the Dollar Tree DMs so I could send a private message.

Should have guessed that was it. I guess I'm still too much in a corporate/ office mindset where that kind of thing can come back to bite you.
