Does anyone think a college degree helped them get a trucking job?

That last quote is exactly how I felt returning to the road.

I really do have one, but I could care less about the mechanics of writing (leave that for the anal retentive secretary). I can fax you my diploma.

All different learning curves and so many things that help you as a trucker. Hopefully the education does help along with some common sense, or at least make it a little easier. So many parts of the brain have to be used and some just don't ever get it.

I've worked with many college/university graduates. Companies respect the grads commitment & self discipine & willingness to learn. The grads still have to prove themselves in the trucking industry, and their history has proven they have an excellent chance to be successful truckers. I'm not one of them, but I have always enjoyed talking to them & working with them.

The mechanics of writing constitute an integral component of English. I'm no net nanny and never nitpick posts but you volunteered the information (by mentioning your major) and as such, it's open for comment (shrug) and it jumped out at me, as it would any other in our (now former) industry. It's all good. Drive on, driver! I'm leaving that world in the rear view but it may take some time.

Less an application from mr. e. e. cummings, William Carlos Williams, etc.

Funny how we explore the depths of heterodox texts and discuss them within the confines of the very system the author's may have modified, protested, dismissed, or by necessity over-stepped.

    900,000-tons-of-steel Thanks this.

Could you please explain this a little for me? I've read it a few times and still not quite sure what you mean.
