Good evening
I am considering going for my CDL A or B but my license was suspended twice this past year for not renewing my registration in time and for speeding ten miles over the limit. Those are the only incidents on my driving record within the past five to ten years. Both have been resolved but I simply want to make sure I will be able to find employment after finishing school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Does having a suspension stop me from getting CDL position?

You should be ok. Your license suspension isn't serious.
Not renewing registration on time, behind on child support, car insurance suspended for being late on payments, won't be held against you.
10 over the speed limit probably won't hurt. 15 or more over would be a big problem and probably delay in getting a CDL.
Get the CDL-A because that one is good for CDL-B also.
A CDL-B is good only for CDL-B. Don't waste your time with that one.Kyle G. Thanks this. -
WIOA Program in your state will pay for CDL school free of charge, free to you.

Yes, CDL-A is also good for CDL-B jobs.
Get all the endorsements before graduating from CDL school, including hazmat endorsement.
Hazmat is no big deal; you may have to pick up a load of paint or fingernail polish or batteries and those require hazmat endorsement. Even refrigerated companies haul those products. -
^^^^^^^^WHAT HE SAID^^^^^^^^
DO NOT....let someone else spook/talk you out of the hazmat endorsement.
Most hazmat loads are NOT things like:
- radioactive nuclear waste
- explosives
- septic tank pump out
- highly lethal compressed gasses
- hairspray
- paint
- charcoal
- booze

I haven't worked for a single company that paid drivers more to haul hazmat loads. Your pay was based on your amount of driving experience. If you had a hazmat endorsement, you were going to be given hazmat loads. No additional pay for those.
I know that's not true for every company, but true for the ones I worked for. I don't feel hazmat is worth the extra BS that comes with it. And you can't take the shortest routes through cities, you always have to go some stupid route halfway around Jupiter. And since most pay is zip code to zip code, you aren't paid for the additional miles you have to drive to comply with HM routing procedures. I got an N endorsement, but not hazmat. Screw that.snowmantrucking101 Thanks this. -
