That's the service you're paid to provide. Everyone out there grumbles and complains about it, most take the attitude"leave me alone let me do my job" not answering calls or making them, totally dropping the ball on service. The way I view it, if they call wondering what I'm doing I failed to provide the service they paid for.

I look at it as they must be use to dealing with stupid drivers!! When I say I'm going to be there it's going to be there I don't need someone to hold my hand....
-
Sounds like CHR. I love it wheen they ask me if my curtain van is tarped.
mp4694330 Thanks this. -
Yup exactly, they deal with lying, sometimes non-english speaking drivers/dispatchers so they keep hand on pulse...
Some accounts are more important then others and some agents (probably just hired ones...) are so to speak in fast
pace, believing they will hit 6 digit in first year, he he he
But treat that as necessary evil like Rollin pointed out. -
I don't mind calling when loaded or dropped off or calling if something happens but calling to say I've had a 10 hour brake is crazy
-
if they called too much would tell them was at the tavern and would get on it soon as i finish my beer. but usually it was some new girl they had calling, and she was just trying to do her job.

I've had various brokers call about different loads. Pretty bad one was on a Rum run from Fl to Ok. 3 times a day. If I didnt call them first. We have a phone just for work, same plan as pur other phones, just a different number.
Heck one of the government runs, we had the broker and dispatch calling 3 & 4 times a day. EACH.
Why I answer the phone and just say the bluetooth is dead, so I will have to take a message for him or you can talk to me. Our DM just talks to me and any brokers we have had more than twice have learned. -
I ask them for an email and if it's ok if I update via that.
Makes it easier for me and there's a written copy of the update then. Less time on my part as well.281ric, BigBadBill and Ruthless Thank this. -
After a "4 hours to go" update, then a "2 hour" update, everything on track no changes.
Now I'm at the consignee wheeling around the yard, handling the trailer, or checking in an hour before my appointment time and they are blowing up my phone. I'm either outside working around a reefer running on hi-cool or standing at the check-in. I will not answer a check call at those times. Even if you call me back 3 times in 2 minutes.
At that point there's been three+ updates including the morning check call plus a few random calls to the broker (always noting status on the current load along with whatever else we're talking about). And no reason for a flurry of calls at check in. I just send them to VM and handle business. Once I'm settled, I call in to report on-time check in and all good. Once in a while they whine and I just tell them I leave my phone in the truck when securing the trailer and checking in.
